if its a go. i'll not be parting it down, i've been looking for a convertible for the wife for a while. she was leaning towards a bug i was leaning towards a GM. it only means the wagon will get put on the back burners for a while. the 70 LT1 for the wagon might have found a new home.

for 1970, US front fenders (Catalina, Bonneville, Executive) are different than the Cdn front fenders (Parisienne, Laurentian, Strato Chief, 2+2).  While the fenders look the same from the outside, the inside bracketry is different.  Radiator support is different, as well as inner fenders, windsheild washer bottle, battery tray, headlight harness and engine harness. 

I believe the hood is the same.  The front bumper, headlight panels, and front valance are the same on the US and Cdn cars.  Not sure about the hood hinges.

Some memories from my days in the boneyard are hazy now but don't the 69/70 US only cars have the larger bolt pattern hubs/wheel size like all the '71-'76 B-Bodys also 5-Bolt GM 1/2 Tons had?.

I knew 69' were different, and suspected 70' as well, but 70' was a crossover kind of year, so one never knows! Now I do.

68sd and i were going though some old picts of tags and noticed that early 70 model year had "Made in Canada" while later 70's model year didn't. but the OS in the tag mean its an Oshawa car. it also was originally silver w/ black roof and a small block.

US 1970 B-body Pontiac's had the larger 5 on 5 bolt pattern. 

Other interesting items between the US and Cdn 70 B-Body cars are little things like the dash pad is slightly different.  I changed the dash in my 70 Green 2+2 with one from the US.  As the emergency brake assembly of the Cdn cars is same as Chev, it's different than the Pontiac ones.   I had to drill an extra hole in the bottom of the dash to allow the bolt to go through. 

69's and 70's interior are similar in many ways, but again the dash pad is slightly different.  69's had the glovebox button in a different spot than 70's knob.  I was able to adapt a 69 dash by doing some minor cutting with a dremel tool.  As I have 3 70's, I'm always willing to offer advice.

Also the background in the 69 gauge cluster is grey whereas in 1970 it was black.

I got thinking about the photo of the trim tag.  I was sure mine say "Made in Canada".  2 of my cars are early builds (Aug - Sept '69) and they say "Made in Canada" across the top of the trim tag.  My third car was a late build, body # is about 100 higher than the one displayed, and it does not say "Made in Canada" across the top of the tag.

There were a couple mid-year changes on the 70's.  Changed from throttle linkage to cable (and moved turbo 400 kickdown from carb to above gas pedal), and the astro-vents changed slightly.  Originally the astro-vent nozzle was chrome, but mid year change to black with chrome around the edge.

As this car is a late build, it should have the throttle cable.  As it should have originally had a 350 4bbl, I'd be curious about the cable length.  When I changed my 400 from 2bbl to 4bbl, the throttle cable length is different (350 4bbl cable is same as 6 cyl, 350 2bbl & 400 2bbl are the same, and 454 had yet another cable).  I'd appreciate if someone could do some measurements for me, or better yet sell me the cable.

hope the cable is there. because a 70 350 with a spreadbore is going back in. i'll be hitting jacksons wrecking yard in the spring and he has a few 70 parisennes so i'll keep my eyes open for the throttle cable for you.

If not, I know of a yard that has a couple of qjet cables I think but it will also be spring.

 I have a throttle cable in my big old 70 Bonneville convertible parts car, the cable is in good shape but the white shield that slide inside the black outer shield is broken, let me know if you want it.

the throttle cable I'm looking for seems to be unique to Canadian Pontiac & Chevrolet, last half of 1970 model year.  The US Pontiac's used a different cable, and once 1971 rolled around it also uses a different cable.  The one I'm looking for is unique to a 350 4bbl or 6 cyl.  It has a screw that holds it to the firewall from the engine side, and snaps into the bracket mounted on the carb.  350 & 400 2bbl cable I already have, but seems to be too short (when I think about it, the 4bbl cable needs to be longer, as the primary throttle shaft on a 4bbl is further ahead than a 2bbl).  I picked up a well worn cable from a 70 Impala 6 cyl while in Phoenix, but it's pretty much shot.  I got it just so I can check the length.
