I think that's pretty much the norm.
What shop quoted you $800?

Got mine done at The Chrome Pit in Winnipeg. Back was$ 800 and front was $1100. Both bumpers were really bent up And are more than one piece. the back is 3 pieses and the front is 7. I told them it was not going to be a show car. I still thing they did a real good job for what i paid . I had quotes from other places that were almost twice as much. So my advice would be shop around.

whew...pricey work, makes me glad i'm chrome free. Of course i'm sure there's other areas where i'll pay big bucks...i'm afraid to know how much body work will be down the road.

I have a story, I went to the local chrome shop in Red Deer to rechrome the rear bumper on my sons 66 camino. It was bad, torn dented you name it but these are rare, very hard to find. They sent it off, told me it would be 5 or 6hundred bucks. They phoned back and said, hey we have a rechrome in stock , do you want it for 300 more bucks ? I couldn't believe it. I paid the core charge ( another 200 ) and kept the old one just in case >>  so maybe your bumpers are sitting in a warehouse somewhere ??
