No, I didn't have to change. The car is an original Sport Deluxe so it's a floor shift from the factory. I just "gently" removed the entire console, shifter, transmission hump and wiring harness for the powerglide and put it all in boxes. The plan is that the conversion will make it look like a factory 4 speed car.

Problem is, with Mr Cowl Tag (68 SD) on this site, I can't get away with calling it an original 4 speed car!!!!biggrin

Just kidding, I'm not that type of guy. All I care is that it looks like it was built new as a 4 speed.

I know the US models have repro tags readily available but I don't think you can get the Canadian tags done up.

And I never would...!

Those original consoles look so cool . Do you have a pic of the automatic shifter and console ? I wanted to show my son as he thinks the stick shifter looks better than the T handle in the Camino.

I will look. Not sure I have one of it when it was still installed, if that's what you mean.

I can sure take a shot of it on the basement floor though!

And I agree, I really like the GM floor shift automatic handle from the 67 and down B bodies, A bodies and X bodies.

Looks and sounds great Carl, good work.  Sure makes me want to start on one of my cars,
But it looks like I will be working in Flin Flon for a good part of the summer.

Those won't work properly, no. The only ones that fit correctly are the originals from 64-67 Nova/Acadian V8.

I have a spare set sitting in Texas but I just haven't found a ride home for the block and manifolds that I have purchased there.

Is this the style he is looking for Carl. The ones with the curve outlet.

Yes, that's the guy.

It's easy to find a left hand side with the curve back but it won't have that alternator mounting boss on the front unless it's from a Nova/Acadian.

Right side will work from 72 and older 1/2 ton but it's not identical.

Are you sure the outlet is curved like that or is straight down ?

I was hoping someone would answer this by now. I am just going by memory here but I believe at least the machine work was and I think maybe the casting was also.

Someone?
