The post on the 11" brake booster, remided me of a question/peeve I have.. I have bought a lot of parts off e-bay..220, plus stuff not on a auction (buy it now) I bought the chrome wheels, for my 2500HD in Texas. I bought the 20" wheels for my Suburban from Florida.. I bought vent handles for Johann, the other day from Alabama. I bought LT1 air breather from Virginia .. My question is Why don't "Canadians" SELL on the internet?? I bought the manual, for 73SC, the other day, and didnt have to pay duty, cause it was Ont. seller.. I want to buy a A/C kit, for my Ventura- Google/Yahoo it and lots in U.S, but no Canada! I want to buy a 4-5 speed trans.. Can get lots in U.S. There are exceptions, but not many.. "Dales Muscle Car" parts (He was actually,at my house, to buy a hood from me) I emailed, and asked about wheels centres, he was selling.. They e-mailed me back and say to "call".. I dont want to call!! I want to look at a catalogue, pick out a part, buy it online, pay for it on line, and have it shipped.. Look at all the guys advertising in Old Autos.. Some have a website, but none sell anything!....The 65 C,hevelle vents I bought are available in Ontario. I have seen vendors at Bothwell. WHY DO CANADIANS LET ALL THIS BUSINESS GO TO U.S. Look at the Auto Trader 1 small picture and a few words. Look at E-bay! My Ventura had 75 pictures.. I could SEE, what I was buying. I could pay "more" for things here, if I was saving on $$ exchange and duty... Am I, the only one to notice this? ... How to we let them know, we want to buy Canadian!! I wanted to buy "Drift cutter Bars for my Snow blower.. Went on line, and guess, where they are for sale? Florida and Texas!! NO CANADA I want to be able to buy, at 3 in the morning, and have it come from Canada....
I have bought some chassis stuff from Antique Chevrolet in Oakville, but thats about all. Their website starts out looking fancy, but is pretty slim in content. If you want to see all the stuff listed, you need the printed catalogue.

I think it just comes down to the fact that the U.S has 10 times the population so there's going to be more vendors online selling the goods we want. I decided to build a small HO scale model train. My son isn't really interested but my father in law is (and is going nuts being cooped up inside this winter and really needs something to do). I've limited my Ebay search for items to Canada and man, there's more model train stuff in this great country than old car parts. I've scored some major deals often paying pennies on the dollar. I wish I could do this for my Laurentian parts! It wasn't bad when the CDN dollar was strong..
I agree with the 300 million versus 30 million but the ratio on E-BAY/INTERNET Is more like 99 to 1 I know the stuff, is here in Ontario, but they just havent got the picture.. I guess I will just keep sending my money to U.S.
I agree with you all. All the parts that I got for my Chevelles back in the late 80's and early 90's came from going to Carlisle, Pennsylvania. When we had the '68 Beaumont, it was watching the "Tri-Ad", Autotrader, auto wrecker hopping and good old word of mouth.
My '34 has been much of the same. I would say 95% of the stuff purchased for it has been off of Ebay from the US and the other 5% has been from Ebay Canada, mostly from our western provinces. There is very little left here in Canada unless you know that "friend of a friend of a friend" routine...
that will be nice a canadian online parts center i just bought the hubcaps for my car one of the emblem , door guard and a clock delete and that cost me 225 american dollars with the shipping i always try to find this in canada but they are really difficult to find
I happen to know an ebay executive who is Canadian but she was working in California for a long time. It all comes down to the differences in marketing, the very reason for Canadian Pontiacs.
She told me that Canadians are very reluctant to use ebay as a means to sell or buy when compared to Americans, they like to look but the are hard presssed to hit the button. She headed up the team that developed Kijiji, which everyone knows is ebay I am assuming, for the very reason to get Canadians involved in on-line shopping.
A good business man sees what ismissing and fills the void - this vbeing said, carl, should you now head up a canadian online parts center?
That would be a great idea, if I had something to sell!...I just would like to see, more of us buying in Canada! I know the vendors are out there, but how do we encourage them to sell on line??? I bet most of them would "DOUBLE" their business....
I've been staying away from Ebay as much as possible when it comes to buying parts for the car. I have bought some literature, both sides of the border and i do hate the shipping from the U.S. The worst was my "bowling ball" caps last year. They are hard to find pieces, so the demand drives up the price. Anyway they still need to be repainted and they cost A LOT when you factor in the shipping and duty costs. How bad? I bought my parts car from St. Catherines on Kijiji around the same time and it cost about as much...not counting what it cost to haul it home. At least with something like Kijiji, or Buysell.com, if the stuff is near you you can look at it first.
I guess, I should clarify, that I was referring, to mostly new and repro items..Like the a/c for my Ventura I can buy from several dealers in U.S., but no one offers them here...How about a Muncie.. show me a Ontario shop , that will sell me one "on line"... As far as used stuff, like hupcaps and Such, we have to buy them, "where ever they are", and most of the used stuff is in U.S. I get most of the stuff, I want, but would like to buy Canadian... I buy all I can, from my friend in Sackville.. He isnt any cheaper, but he is a friend , and I would rather see (the mark) up paid to him.... maybe it will get better, if we let the business' know what we want just my 2 cents
When I was changing my 57 to front disc with dropped spindles I look all over Canada . No one sold a complete kit I could but apiece here and apiece there but not a full kit so cross border I went. And it was the same with most parts Just to hard to find in Canada

Check out Antique Chevy website - http://www.antiquechev.com/home.htm They are located in Oakville, On.
No online ordering but they have a toll free #. As there is so much interchange between Chev/Can. Pontiac, a lot of the parts can be used for your Pontiac, Acadian, Beaumont, GMC truck
The following catalogs are available as a free download in PDF format:
Antique Chevrolet is only 10 minutes from me, And they are A+++ to deal with over counter, probably by mail as well.
I was looking for a pair of upper bumper to rad support bushings for my 69'. I have never seen them listed for the big CP's. The fellow immediately knew that a bushing for a Lemans/GTO (year?) is the same and would work on the big CP. So they do know somthing about CP's at this shop! He ordered 2 and they came a week later. OER reproduction parts.

Carl I'll shed some light. I am one of those Canadian Suppliers without the good website to purchase from. We do a strong buisness in hot rod/restoration and musclecar parts. Been at it for 17 years. We also do mainstream jobber and light industrial stuff. Part of Autosense, nationwide. 69 laurention got it. 300 million to 30. All of my competition on the west coast that I have talked to agree, we just can't afford to put $25k+ into a full on website. Our volume and the markup we can get (it's alot smaller than you may think) is just too thin. What we do have is very good service getting you the right stuff, on-time, at the right price. But you have to pick up the phone , and we're not open at 3:00 am....sorry. I'd love to do the web thing, and maybe down the road we will, but it won't be soon. I do agree with your points. I'm on this website for Beaumont & Acadian stuff on a personal level. This is not an add. I can however do as much on e-mail as you want. Like a quote on a Vintage Air kit for a Ventura? Thanks Bud All-Parts Auto & Performance Abbotsford BC bud1957@telus.net
