RE: 53 Pathfinder deLuxe

The body work going well. Most of the welding is done. I think at the end of summer I should paint it and put it back on the frame, and for the winter, work on the reassembly.

Now back on work on the frame (picture later), I made all the brake line, bleed the air. I plan to do the exhaust soon, and use a catalityc converter to reduce the gas smeel in my nose and my cloths. I remember when I park the car for the resto how it was disturbing me at the end. The converter will help to reduce this, not like a injected car but will help. The price is good too with 2 year warranty.

I want by this thread thanks Rodger (Rollilk) for his time, because he take all the picture I need to rebuilt all my brake line. Before the resto, my brake line was anything good to follow. With all the picture taken for me I was able to make mine like it was since new. Thanks Rodger.

It's a part of being member of a club or forum like this one.

Andre, Like I've said before, great job! How many hours do you estimate has been put into your car?

I don't know, I really don't know.

I think I don't want to know...

I remember in 2005 when I began this resto, I wrote all hour done on it, but I give up on that. But  I can tell you we take around 500 hours for the frame resto, it's the only thing I can estimate mostly correctly, because my friend had a punch with timecard...

New work done on the frame, yesterday I built the rest of the gas line, using the tank for demo positioning. Not very far for the exhaust building.

Last week I visit the muffler shop, today I installed the muffler but not the tail pipe, I want to wait to see the spare well and tank set up, put the tail after, also I repaired the tank, tested it and paint it today.

 Sharp car

did you use the "skirts" for making sure openings were correct,

or are you going to use them?

At first the car had skirt, but, the bodyman called me one night and said: I can't use your skirt to rebuilt the opening, because they are not the same lenght!!! ¾'' from one to another!!

I bought a good used steel skirt to make sure the opening is the same on both side, and yes I will use it.

the resto resumed !!

Today, I started the rolling frame for the first time. The body is in another shop, I won't do it myself (the body). I run the engine on starter only without sparkplug until the carb fill up, and oil pressure build up. 10 psi on starter. Put back the plug, hit the gas twice, turn key and fired up with this so lovely noise. No leak anywhere. after a while, I climb on the frame, put in reverse and on its own the frame back in the shop.

Wow did I have some catching up to do and read all 11 pages of work progress, it sure has come a long way. Very nice work, I will love to see it finished and all back together. I'm sure you will have the biggest smile on your face every time that you drive it. I enjoyed reading this thread

I just finished reading every entry and looking at every picture on this thread, Andre. What a magnificient project! Thanks very much for taking the time to document the process and please accept my gratitude for it all, and amazement at what a man can do, if he puts his mind to it. I feel like I just watched a major TV series and my PVR missed the last episode. What a thrill it must be to have that final picture in your mind, all the way through. Simply spectacular. Je te remercie beaucoup, Monsieur - c'est incroyable.

Thanks very much guys.

It's hard since the resto began to be focused on this project, why? Simple. Work change, child grew up, vacation, new friends, trips, new bike (victory vision, oh what a bike!), and the most important, you are stuck because the bodyman stopped the project (or sometime I said to him stop, no more money) for to long, your life bring you to something else to have fun with (outside wife and bike!!). So the hardest thing is not the work to do or the rust to remove, or the transmission to rebuilt, the hardest thing is keep the motivation alive.

Picture soon.

WOW, even your bike is a piece of art, I LOVE the pipe "Tommy Gun" style that you added. Is it an insert or full tip or full new pipe? Great look!!!!

Andre, now that you have the body are you going to do the paint. You know the old saying if you want something done right do it yourself. I hope the new shop is doing well.

I won't paint it myself. It's the thing I tried a few times, with no or minus no success. So the new bodyman will do it by himself. For this one I will do the spectator.... I do not have any problems to let someone else doing something on this if he is better than me.

Stay tune!!

Fitz.
