RE: 53 Pathfinder deLuxe

some work done on the frame, the rear crossmember was twist by a chain (I suppose), I fix it and fix a rust problem on the K member and begin to figure where all that parts goes...

Your work to me is like documentation on how to get it done right the first time. Its of great value and interest to me to see such expertly done work and picture recording of all these stages you have undergone. I get the feeling that this project will for sure be one of the nicest Canadian 54's anywhere.

The frame is mostly complete. Tomorrow my friend and I will remove the frame from the jig.

Soon after, don't know exactly when, we will install the body shell for  the first time on his new rebuilt frame to check all match point.

We build from scratch, the 2 outside bracket, the one in front the rear wheel. I'm happy with the result.

today, I put the bodyshell on the new frame, it fit perfectly. Nothing to correct or modify.

I only have to drill hole for the brake line bracket.

I'm happy with the result.

Wow. I am always amazed when I see what you are doing and how well you are doing it - from major efforts like frame reconstruction to great details like the little bracket to hold the hard lines from the transmission.

Thanks for sharing!

No! don't worry, no tickets.

Here is some picture of the start up installation.

No vibration a 60mph, no leak, transmission shift well, donwshift well too, oil pressure OK, temp OK, generator work well too.

This week I'll take the transmission oil pressure reading, and if all is OK after, I'll separate the engine from the PG and plan to paint.

I think we'll have to rename this thread the " Amazing Race". Love the work and the pics of all your steps. Fitz you need to put a big couch just behind that cluster and a fake steering wheel and go for a Sunday cruise with your family. Keep it up and that's what exactly what you will be doing sooner than you think.wink

I have not take a ride in it on the couch yet, but I think my wife and I will make it, just for you!!!

This week end was a real good one, the bodyman pickup the frame and the bodyshell! Yes the car is out for the body repair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will send him the other sheetmetal like the door, fender etc.....

I think some good picture will be taken in the next months.

On another way, we, old car enthousiast, have a new "member". No I don't have a new born, I am on the Big brother/Big sister program and a 14 years old boy is now with me once a week since last week. He really enjoy the old car hobby. So maybe a new buyer of old car, but for now a really old car fan.

Friday night he start the Pontiac engine on the IKEA frame and see and smell it running. It's was fun for him, but for me too...

Fitz.

Way to go with the Big Brother deal. I dreamed of that for years and finally we started our own Christian mentoring program for teen boys who were "at risk". I spent 5 years, one night a week working with boys. We built a couple of dirt track cars, a drag car and had tons of fun. I gave it up a year ago when it started being too much since our kids are of the age that we need to run them around a lot to school and church activities. However, I hope to get back at it some years down the road. Teenage boys need to be involved in car stuff....

Tonight with Jonathan (14 years old boy) we start the engine for the last time before painting it. The goal is to retorque the head bolt.

I took some picture of the engine running and the wheel too.

The bodyman should touch the body/frame in two week or so.

Just a quick update.

The young boy and I  shipped most of the body parts to the bodyman saturday morning. The real thing shoud begin this week for the body.

The engine color is choose from the Pontiac engine color site, and I think the car will be red, the lighter red available in 53 pontiac body color.

What do you think about changing from green to red?

I know it's my taste, but about the value, interest from collector, what your thinking is?

Fitz.
