RE: 53 Pathfinder deLuxe

About changing from green to red---

I love red cars Andre. However, I think that green on your car is a beautiful colour. It really suits a car from those years. Personally, I think the green is likely a better choice than red and if the green is the original colour it may even add a bit of value to the car.

However, the most important thing is that you paint the car the colour YOU want it.

thank you for being honest with me.

I have to ad the car is originaly green but not this green. The green you see on my car is a Ford 80 green. I think this Ford green is better looking then the original Pontiac one, matter of taste.

The original one is close, i think they call it "spruse green" anyway, it's a light green.

Thanks again.

Fitz.

Fitz, Is the car original light metallic green? If it is that would be my choice, keeping it original.
BUT it's your car so you pick whatever color you want to see on it. Red is a favorite of mine also.

the car was not metalic green, it was a solid green, but the top was dark green, metalic with the dash.

I was going by the picture in your avatar. That color looks nice on the car. Does anyone have a picture of a red 54?

this is some picture from my 53 Pontiac, if you look carefully, you will see the 2 green I'm talking about.

The 53 chevrolet IS the correct green combination (including the dark green on the top).

I will find a red Pontiac and show it soon.

The car color story was not a "real" survey, but It is a situation who is difficult for me to find "the" good answer.

Because if I think for me, I would go to red for 2 reasons, first: it make me a "new" old car (by changing the color) , I'm the owner of this 53 since '95. Two: I like red old car.

But, if I think preservation, value, history, I think I should go to original 2 tone green combo.

Do you want to know what my lovely wife prefer.....nothing to help... red.

Anyway......!

OK, I talk to the bodyman today, and a floor pan is replaced (right side, front), a real start on the body. Oh I forgot, he like the red too.....no

You have to go with the colour that you like. If this gives you the chance to have a car with the colour you have  always wanted, go for it.

Agree - go with what you like as long as it suits the car. Personally, I like the green. I have two green cars and they are favorites in terms of color.

I think you and your family should do the 53 the colour that your family prefers. After all its just paint. If needed to go back to original, than that can be done at a later point in time. It all about what you will enjoy using.

the decision has been taken about the color......................................................original green!

Some work done by the body man since the body is in is shop. He called me about my fenderskits, they were not the same lenght! And he have to change the rear wheel panel, between the wheel and the rear bumper, so without a good start to figure where to cut or weld, he prefer have a good set of fenderskits. Inside the rear wheel opening to compensate the lenght difference, the previous owner bought (in sale at Canadian tire or something) a lot of bondo and block the gap between the fenderskirt and the fender, anyway all the bondo was removed and some patch replacement began.

The fenderskirts are an express order from fenderskits king, good services and fair price too.

Here some picture from the last few weeks.

I think the green looks good, what colour is the Interior???  If it's green then I don't think RED will go with that, NOW, your looking at changing that too!!!! Just my opinion or 2cents worth!!!

The car inside is green too, I'll keep the original interior with the original exterior color. If I would use the red for exterior I would change also the interior, based on the catalina US model.

But now, the green is the plan for painting the car, and replicate the green interior.

Last time worked on the car's fender.

We clean all the #$%%$?&&*(*&&? inside the last front fender. Another number appear, 5152 and under it 356. I'll deliver the fender to the bodyman as soon as possible.

after cleaning of the tar inside de fender, Jo and me strip the engine and transmission preparing for painting.
Also, I have a customer who's doing zinc plating. I send it to him some small parts showed on the picture.

Saturday, we went to the bodyman, to choose color for the engine and transmission, and look at the job done on the welding of the "rain gutter" on the rear right side.

everything look fine.

Fitz.

I'm doing all I can to make this car restoration right in term historic and quality.

With the help of many here, I think I' ll achieve this goal and the bodyman who work on it now is the right one I think.

So only patience and time will  be the 2 best ingredient to reach this restoration's end.
