RE: 53 Pathfinder deLuxe

another update:

last night, we paint a part of the PG. I know on the assembly line (I think I know...) the PG was not paint, but in book or other publication we can see the PG on iron, and all the cover are black. In another one I saw the PG black and the cover on iron, and at the end on some video a completly black PG is showed.

To me it is logical to have no paint on the PG, for  cost and quicker assembly. Since on GM literature we can see everything, I choose to paint the cover black and the rest will be on iron color paint.

So last night I use for the first time a spray gun and paint the cover. Next week I'll paint the rest of the PG. Here some picture..

Also the bodyman work well on the body here some shot from him.

Fitz.

Yes,

I bought some, sometime ago, and I order new ones.

2 for the floor,
2 for the rear fender behind the rear wheel
2 for the front fender behind the wheel
2 inside rocker panel

I think I don't forget any...

The floor brace will be hand made.

Now the engine is painted!

I think this green is close enough to accept it as a good flathead Pontiac engine color.

Next time we will begin to put back accessoiries.

back from vacation in France and a small trip to Switzerland.  Wonderful country. I work on my friend's motorcycle (automoto 1952) and on a spring start up on a Hudson 1950.

Also, the bodyman ended the body brace, he attack now the rear part of the body. It look like a good job from him.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments about the resto.

I visit the bodyman yesterday afternoon, and we look together what work need to be done, since the body brace are made. The spare well have to be replace and some trunk floor parts, but the worst place is the rear end, under the body, where the the rear bumper filler is in place.

Some picture.

Fitz.

PS: it's crazy how a good looking old care can be so rusted thru...

Here is some picture of the body job. Now all the body brace are done and well done!

They are welded and ready to use!!  The body man will work now on the rear part of the body, the spare well and the trunk floor. The rear parts of the body between the trunk lid and the gravel pan have to be replace.

Oh your floor boards are looking so nice! I love the look of the floor braces, your bodyman is a real good metal smith. I don't hink I could have done as nice as this. I can understand the rear trunk to gravel pan part that just seems to be a spot where everything collects and rots out slowly. The last shot shows your underpans well, I really like seeing the indentations on your inner rockers. It just seems that I've seen so many done with flat steel nice job for sure, top notch!
