For you long-time CDN Poncho owners...

...is there a Holy Grail of Canadian Pontiacs? You know....the ultimate Canadian; the one you would own if you had more money than Mats Sundin.

If you can't name a particular year and model as THE Canadian Pontiac, what are those from the '50s, '60s and/or '70s that would have to be included in a top ten list?

Obviously, a similar question asked about the US cars would have to include the various Super Duty offerings, but what about our cars?

Curious minds want to know. wink

65 409 CARS     66 427 L72 CARS  67,68,69 BIG BLOCK CARS  L79 Acadians and Beaumonts    You did say holy grail of "Pontiacs", so I guess it excludes the L79 Acadian and 396 Beaumonts    There were 2 427-425 cars in Fredericton in 66-67..  I have photo of one..Dark color with advertising on side....

For me, top dogs would be the 66-69 full size Pontiac, any body style, with the 427/385 or 427/390 engine. And the 63-64 full size with the 409/425 hp engine. For style, I especially like the 61 - 62 Parisienne ht & convt, the 67 Grande Prarisienne coupe & the 67-69 Grande Parisienne wagons, as well as the 62 & 66-68 2 door post cars. And the SD 396 Beaumont any year.

Any big block Strato Chief would suit me just fine. I'd love to own a 69 4 speed 427 2+2. I've been lucky to have seen two of them, one needed a full restoration, the other belongs to member 427Pont and it's in very nice condition. They are 2 of 10 made..

Back to the original question---

A 1965 Acadian 300 horse 327. I know they are available. I have corresponded with a guy who has seen one.

Anyone ever encountered one of these?

Or a factory 4 speed 65 Acadian?

That's the Beaumont stuff but I think it's the same as Acadian anyway.

How about a 58 Parisienne convertible, 348 3x2 bbl 4 speed, A/C, power windows, power chair, black, red tri tone interior? Would it even have been possible to order this beast? If no 348, then a fuelie 283/283.

I think there is a 348 convertible just like that hanging around Richmond Hill. Big Ray has seen it as well, thought he mentioned Cruise Nationals champion?

If we're talking cars that could've been built or ordered without too much fuss...

...like Carl said above it'd be an 66 or 68/69 L72 427/425 B-Body...Strato 2 Dr. Post for me!.
(No the L72 wasn't on the books for any '67 but a few US Chevys were built with them so who knows?!).

On the should've been but weren't built list...

'69 Beaumont Copo L72...may as well make it a Post!,
68 L78 Acadian...same as a Copo Gibb Nova w/ the H/D M40 !,
69/70 L78 Acadian...please add the L89 Alum. Heads!,
'61 Strato Post w/ the first year 409,
'62 Strato Post w/ the Dual Quad Niner...may as well Swiss Cheese it while we're at it!,
'63 Strato Post...thats a Z11 Impala underneath!.
'64 Strato Post...w/ the Dual Quad Niners again!.
'65 Strato Post w/ the '65 only L78 396/425!.

* All above are stick cars except the '68 Acadian!

When I was younger I lusted after Corvettes. Now they don't do a thing for me. Same for the all new cars. There isn't really anything that lights my fire. And as long as my Windstar starts and stops I will run it until it drops.

For me cars were always about the good times and the people I shared them with. I had a 1967 Riviera that delivered me and my friends to all sorts of fun places. My wife and I honeymooned in a brand new Z-28. But when it all comes down to a final choice I'm afraid nothing can replace my Beaumont. There are stories that she was involved with that are a big part of my life and I cant imagine anything replacing her.

You all have probably heard the old Henny Youngman joke about the guy who was being robbed and the robber said Your money or your wife. Henny pauses for a long time until he turns to the robber and say, "Im thinking!" Im not that bad but it would be a tough call in some circumstances.

i like what i have, but i do prefer the 56's simply 'cause I like their front bumpers better. Other than the mid 50's pontiacs, i like the late 60'2 early 70's gto types.

A guy I used to work with at the steel plant claimed his buddy bought one new-66 Strato black on black 427/425 4-speed, raced it for years then used a small block in it through the 70's as a family car ! The guy who told me this had a 66 Sd396 4-speed beaumont black on red, ran a 427/425 in it at Lancaster for years-I still know where this car is-it is assumed the Strato has been long scrapped (I'm thinking 1 of 1)

yes Carl, just trying to continue to tease you about it ! 1of 3 ? 427/425 ? I would really like to see documentation on this one with a 427/425-I'm always thinking a storey from the 60's but the guy with the beaumont bougfht an over the counter 427/425 for his car because his buddies was so good.
