RE: This page acting weird???

Lets give it until tomorrow. If there are still problems I'll send an email to support. I've had no issues in the past 30 mins or so.

Like anything else it takes a bit of time to get used to it. Being an accountant who was trained in the 70's I like lines deliniating columns and rows. I can live with the "new" way if I have to.

OK Todd, I've been using this for about an hour or so, I like it better, I think the GUI's are more intuitive and more in line with most progarms in use today. The drop down menu is great and it also provides a bit more information at a glance with respect to users on line and messages.

Same here, board is totally disfunctional for me now.  I can click on the black bar all that I want but nothing happens.  Why change any way, what was wrong with the old format?  If the new one doesn't work for everyone, shouldn't that then dictate the continued use of the original format?

All I have is a black line across the screen. Why mess with something that isn't broke. The site seemed to be fine the way it was. Thats my two cents worth.

It wasn't my decision. Since I'm not having any issues on my end (I have no black bar etc) I suspect it's likely a problem on your computers. It may be a case of having to clear your cookies and log off and back on.
We can switch to another software which means I would
a) have to buy or lease server space
b) spend about 500 bucks for the program
c) have to charge a yearly membership or get major sponsorship
d) we'd lose all our previous posts.

I'll email activeboard with your concerns

Todd

I just logged on with internet explorer. No problems at this end- I also still have the lines between each recently active topic.

still have black line for main bar, its not my computer. Kinda makes it hard for guests to find where recent posts, list users, and user details are. everything else is the same as the old way

That's good news. We'll leave the new menu bar disabled for now. Perhaps some of you have older versions of explorer and it doesnt support the latest HTML?

Man, listen to us all. What a bunch of grumbly old farts. Barely a year and we're all set in our ways on here.

I too am guilty of forgetting how good we have it here. Free, unlimited access, tons of good stuff and as soon as one little change hits we PMS to the max!!!!

Boy I hate getting old!!!!

I have crashed out too severely and survived to allow a minor problem to upset me! Especially this morning when my Malibu stalled in morning traffic with blocked jets!! Still remained calm!!

I got this reply from support:

From: Sparklit Support - Jeff

Hi Todd,

I get the impression from reading some of that topic that the people
post about problems in there were doing so in the middle of the update.

The "black" look that happened was due to a bug with a slightly
different version of PHP on one of the servers, and we resolved that
quickly. Basically the CSS for the page was loading incorrectly.

If anyone is still having display problems, just have them hit CTRL-F5
in their browsers (to force reload the page).

>> "Bottom center you should see a little black arrow sticking up. Click
it."

This black arrow sticking up at the bottom indicates that someone has
hidden the bar. Clicking the bar at the bottom will pop it up.

Clicking on the blue down-arrow on the right-hand side of the ActiveBar
will hide it.

--

At any rate, please use the bar and let us know if you have any problems
or issues!

Note that IE6 users will not see the bar, as floating isn't properly
supported in IE6. We're still working on coming up for a solution for
that, though it would be nice if everyone upgraded to a real browser.

Cheers,
Sparklit Support

So, when I get home tonight I'll turn the bar back on and see what happens.
  Todd

It's all normal now except either I got older or the print is smaller where each topic subject line is listed where you click "new posts"!
