On the way from Calgary last night, just 20 minutes from home, I tagged a deer. Well, more than tagged, she didn't make it. So now I have to deal with body damage and finding parts that are no longer in GM's system. I need an Impala grille if anyone has one laying around. I think I've got the rest of the parts located. Here's the damage.
Sorry about the deer and your car...at least you're ok. How fast were you going when you hit her? I have to deal with deer on the back hwys and am forever keeping an eye out. My little car doing 80...hitting a deer...good bye car.
Sorry to hear! There are three of them-always together that I've found standing on the highway three times this winter. I had one close call with them. They wouldn't move until I laid on the horn.
Anyone ever see that BMW Roadster that sucked the deer in the grille last year...what a mess..
Check out how the aerodynamic nose on this car works...and what is this car anyway, looks familiar and Lola'ish also kind've like an open version of the Peugeot 905 Keke Rosberg ran in 1990 but smaller?.
Ok, I have a hood, as I scooped one from the Pick A Part in Edmonton about a year ago. It's the right color too. I have headlights, in fact I repaired the wiring today and put in the spare Drivers side light. My friend in Vancouver may have a fender and side light for me. So at this time I need a grille, the metal framework behind it, and a wheel opening molding. Carl, thanks for the info on the grilles still being available. We'll see what insurance says, and figure out when I can get it repaired. I may buy another grille just to have it in stock, but I'm trying to find something else to drive for the rest of the winter.
Are you aware that the jobber grille is not identical to the OEM grille? It does not have the backing for the bowtie. The bowtie just kind of glues on to the middle and the extreme parts of it hang in the air with no backing. I wanted to tell you about that as some guys are fussy and need it to look original or they don't want it.

I've had a lot of close encounters with deer and moose on the roads, and a friends father was killed when they struck a moose. The moose ended up in the car with them, but no one else was injured . Pretty traumatic for all involved.
Growing up and living in Wisconsin*, I hit deer 3 times -- once in my 68 Corvette, that time it pretty much wiped out the front end -- so I worked a deal with the body shop and they installed the custom front end I always wanted for no more than what the insurance settlement was. Don't know if there are custom grilles etc. for your car, but if you want to jazz it up a bit for no cost as long as you have to have it fixed anyway ... ???
