1950 body removal

How dificult is it to remove the body from a 1950 torpedoback , I was under mine the other day and the front end and the engine need to be cleaned up, so I was thinking of removing the body and having the chassis etc steam cleaned to remove all the oil grease whtever then sand or soda blast the whole thing and repainting I saw probably about 20 bolts that includes the front and rear bumper supports that would need to be removed plus the pedals and steering; and can it be done as a compelete unit or do I have to take the front fenders off.any suggestions would be appreciated

First thing to do is get a body and maintance manual. This will show the correct procedure.

You will need to remove the front fenders, hood ,etc. to take the body off.

does anybody have a scan of the body and maintenance manual or is it available on line somewhere. I was hoping it could all be removed as a unit if it was properly supported, I have an idea that I could build a support system that would hang on the vertical supports of my 4 post lift and then lower the main deck of my lift to lower the chassis , but if it needs the front fenders to be removed that can be done also

your whole front end will have to come off. You can look at Andre's pic of his 53 frame off resto. here

you will need to take the wiring off, the steering linkage, and other parts I am forgetting about. its alot of work but well worth it once its all done.

You can also look here to see if this manual is right for you car. You can use the basic dimensions and measure up your frame to see if its correct.
