Car looks great, would love to hear more about it. I have looked at lots of pictures,
brochures, original cars etc  and every 325 hp car has had a closed element air cleaner . I don't have pictures with me at work this morning but I will get you some.
It is the same air cleaner as a 325hp chevelle. Lets see some more pictures of your car!!!!biggrin

Ok boys, here are some more pics of the car. It originally came with QQ verdoro geen, and has a white top which is not on GM canada docs as CO8,still wondering if this was dealer install, also had 2-3 people say that it was factory when resto began because they said once top was removed the clips that were on there were from factory and dealers would'nt use those type of clips, any feedback from someone??The car was from the Calgary area where I bought it in 2001 and appears to have been there ever since, originally sold from Stampede motors in Calgary and I also have the book with #'s on it but the protecto plate was detached. No one has seen the car since its been ongoing project from '02. I see that some Beaumonts have the firewall painted same colour as body, is this for all Beaumonts?have heard storeis on both sides. Thanks for your replies on the air cleaner, will try to put the one with single snorkel as the one like Bills.Anymore inputs would be much appreiated.

As far as I've seen, all Beaumonts had body colour firewalls but I am no guru.

Beaumontguru, BeaumontBill and 68SD396Rag on here will likely have definitive answers for you. There is likely more Beaumont experts on here I have missed so I apologize in advance to them!

I'm sure you likely already have the corrrect answer but stuff like that just interests me!

I did find something interesting in the parts book. Notice the line where each red mark is. Maybe I am not reading it right, but is your's a 350 hp or 325?

Welcome to this site, and  Nice Beaumont.  I am not sure about 68 firewall colour, I heard it was body colour. I know my 69 is black and is original. I do believe the 325 hrs engines have an closed aircleaner. The pic of one in my 69
GM info package shows this.

Are you saying your car is not originaly a c08 top car but came with one ? I think if you had QQ on cowl tag that would mean Verdoro green top and bottom.
My 69 shows code 59 2F,  59 is lower body colour Limelight green and 2F is top colour Dark Fawn. Whats on your cowl tag ?    Or show a pic of it .

PaddockCruise-in003.jpgVery nice looking car.
Here is a picture of BeaumontBill's dad's (Henry) 68 SD convertible engine. It has the 325hp engine. I have more pictures if anyone wants to see them.

I have been told that some 68 Beaumont firewalls were black and some were body color.

Bill, do you still need a steering wheel center cap for your 67 vert?

Hi Ian, is it possible that no top came out of the factory but had the mouldings on the car with top& bottom same colour,I have heard alot of "wierd" things happend back then.Funny thing I also have the same pics of Bills father car from '06 and now did the air cleaner have dual snorkel?I adding pics of the air cleaner that was on the car when purchased, looks like one from '69 as the decals have "Astro Jet"did this only come in '69.I have heard astro jet came in 69&68 still had econo on it.Also my motor has a build date of nov '67 and could this be early prod. car?thanks for now Pat

I beleive Econo-Jet is correct for 68, I am not sure about dual snorkal air cleaners but my opinion is that not correct for Beaumont, but it sure looks cool. I have seen cars around town with just the moldings but always thought they just did not put the vynal top back on.  There is a code D99 in the factory option list that is for just the moldings. Here is what it says;

Moldings, two-tone paint- (mandatory with two tone paint and not recommended with solid paint or sport coupes)

2-door (exc.convertables)-------------D99
4-door (exc.wagons)--------------------D99

The key word is not recommended, but does not mean you can't. Yours could be the exception. Some guy just liked the moldings and ordered that way . you never know.

i would wonder what clips they refer to that the dealer wouldn't have, but the factory used? more than likely the trim and top were added early in the cars life, or even at the dealer (especially if C08 or D99 were not on the option list). I think it looks really sharp with it! In restoring the car, did they strip the firewall paint? That should have shown whether there were traces of body colour under the black originally or not... just from an aesthetic point of view, i think the body colour firewall looks great on the canadian cars...

Carl do you know what the difference in the aircleaner is with the two part #'s (325hp vs. 350hp)??

than we thought.

heres a D99 67 Beaumont same story

My 64 beaumont is solid black , has D99 option.  Refered to as "2 tone paint mouldings".  Even though it is solid black.

I too have seen many single color cars with the D99 mouldings.  I guess is just added some "dress-up" to a car

As for the body color firewall.  1964 -1967 canadian built chevelles and beaumonts and acadians were all body color.  no exceptions.
Im no expert on the 68/69's, someone else will have to answer that one.

68cdnbeau, does you car have D99 on the tag? or on the gm docs? I'm sure those would be correct for your car... Dave the 64 sounds nice, all black with roof trim... nice combo (or is it lack of combo??)!

Just checked my GM docs and yes it does show the D99, so i guess there can be a few mysteries to the car, only way to really know is to find the original owners, also I seen that it has a Z49,is this a standard option or part of D99,and also see U15 speed warning indicator is this a rare option?? thanks

Z49 means Canadian Content, U15 I would think is very rare, yes. The Z49 and D99 would be unrelated.
