Starter wraps

Has anyone dealt with a hot no start problem? I had a few last year with the El C, looking to address that. Thought if I wrap the starter/solenoid with some heat saving material I'd be able to lick this problem?

I have no HOT start problems, with my Big Block with headers, but I did put a wrap on it, last year with new starter.. Do you have the HD starter with the longer connection to the solonoid?    I mean the spacer from the solonoid to the tab it attaches to on the starter??

A constant problem on American Pontiacs.  There are many after market heat shields available.  I also wrapped my solenoid in an "asbestos like" material.smile

Also increase the gauge of the cable running from the battery to the starter.

Replacing that old wiring harness with a new one gets rid of the hot start problem.

I got sick of it with my 427 in my Acadian and put the Ford solenoid on. Never missed a beat. I took it off now and I'm going to try stock again with the 327. We'll see if it lasts.......................

I have no problem with doing a remote solenoid. It's better than the alternative.

Although now I will be driving a 4 speed Acadian so no start is not an issue.
