Forward harness Diagram. Modified slightly.

I made up a colour harness diagram, from the bulkhead plug out to the running and marker lights, illustrating what my harness plan pretty much will look like. I've chosen to up the wire size on the running, signal and markers (20 to 16g), the main body power feed (12 to 10G), but reduce the old highbeam feed (14 to 16G) since it will only be triggering a relay. The Lowbeam remains the same at 16G to relay. To the headlamp it will all be 12G from the relays, with 12G grounds as well.

The body powerfeed will no longer start at the old horn relay buss, it will come off a new main powerpoint on the rad support, with a 14G fuselink to start. It will terminate on a new junction block beside the bulkhead plug, then go to the plug itself on a 12G wire. A 10G Black will come off the junction and move up (in the engine harness) the firewall to the convertible top 30A breaker. I don't like the extra separate wire running from the rad support. all the way across the wheeltub to the breaker. Looks crappy.

I'm choosing to keep the old style Delco Remy horn relay instead of a new style relay, I like the cheesy sounding keyminder buzzer, and like the look of the relay itself. Antique Chevrolet is getting me a new one. $35.

The ignition switched 16G brown wire that used to run to position 4 on the old Voltage regulator will now be a Dark Blue 16G wire running all the way to the Field position on the new 12SI alternator. It will still work the Alt. idiot lamp if I use the std. cluster.

Added a 16G Purple wire, for the future. Probably could have added another, maybe two, but who knows?

Removed the water temp sender wire from this forward harness, it will now be in the engine harness as the sender will be in the intake, not in the left head.

I have most all the parts I need to build a nice harness, getting good SAE wire in small amounts was challenging here. I ended up ordering it from California! All in all I do love wiring!

Perhaps this diagram might help somone doing a similar thing...

very nice and well thought out . I supose you will upgrade to 8 g wire from your alternator bat. term. to your new power point. Looks good, will have to keep this in mind when I get to my wiring mess on my Beaumont.  I realy like a clean and well thought out engine bay and that does start out with the wiring.

Thanks for the positive comment Ian!

Yes, the feed from the Alt. to the powerpoint will be 8G. I'd think if the car had a big stereo, it might need a 6G. But for me, adding a power seat, power windows and having a power top, I think 8 should cover it.
