STICKY:
1965 CP B Body wiring diagram,
(Preview)
I'm thinking the Electrical section is kind of light on reference material, so I'll try to add what I can. wouldn't it be nice to have something like this over on CT? I can only image the amount of work this took. Anyone know how you produce and store this kind of PDF type document to link to? Kind of wonky, s...

STICKY:
1965/66 B body Fuseblock Detail
(Preview)
Even with a dead simple fuseblock like the 65-66 B body, it can be sometimes a little perplexing as to how and what the fuses actually feed, the power paths, and how they are actually fed. You can't really see what's going on unless you have the block off and can see the back. While the 65-66 chassis manual...

65-68? Column signal switch and harness diagram.
(Preview)
Having a little bit of trouble with my column switch, the little switch assembly is really fussy. To help troubleshoot I decided to actually figure out how that little mystery switch works, and what is what. Seeing as it's a hit and miss on the web, I created a diagram for us showing how the contact pins a...

65 B Body fuseblock. Questions and rusted terminal repair by electrolysis.

Does anyone make replacement fuse contact terminals for the 60's style block? Mine are in tough shape. Rusted up pretty good, probably beyond redemption. No point in messing around with bad contacts at this point. The block is out now, so time to make it right. I think I have a 69 B Block that has very goo...

Fuel gauge/sender. Quick diagnosis please.

New sender in the 67. Gauge reads empty ign on, tank near full. Unplugging it in the trunk (sender feed), the gauge quickly swings up and way past the full mark. What's up? Any ideas?

67 Grande. No dashlights.
(Preview)
Got the Grande out of storage today. Fired right up. No dash lights... Headlamps, running lamps and interior lamps are good. Switch or fuse? Hopefully fuse. I don't think this is an easy switch to obtain as it has a integrated vacuum switch for the lamp doors.

If your "Alt" idiot light bulb was to burn out on your 69...
(Preview)
...do you lose current to the alternator field, and then have a dead alternator? Or... do most GM's of our era have a secondary resistance wire run parallel to the idiot bulb for just that scenario? Never would have given this a second thought until lately, and the wiring diagram does not describe it ve...

Installed a CS130D alternator in my 69 Parisienne.
(Preview)
As I was really looking for better charging at idle than the original 10DN could deliver, I finally got around to installing the CS130D alternator I got from Carl last year. The CS130D is able to deliver 100 amps at idle. While a 10 or 12SI internally regulated alternator would be a good choice as well, I...

Alternator clocking questions.
(Preview)
Question; Can a Delco Remy style 12Si internally regulated alternator allow the back be moved or "clocked" into 4 different positions? I'd really like to do a 94 amp internal style on the 69, and rather than look for the right clocking, can I just buy one and turn it myself? Are they the same as a 10Si in th...

Temperature sensor 2 post type question

How do the cold and hot light 2 post sensors work? From what I can find out, it is 2 sensors combined in 1. What Im wondering is, I assume the hot side will work alone if I only connect the wire from the sensor hot side post. But can I use the wire for the cold side light to be my GEN light for my alternator which re...

What year did GM Canada switch to negative ground?
(Preview)
Were Canadian Pontiacs ever positive ground? If so, when did they switched to negative ground? I found this comment on-line, but I suspect it is US based, and maybe not applicable to Canada? GM went to 12 volt negative ground in 1953 for the new Buick V8's, Cadillac, and Oldsmobile V8's. Chev and Po...

MSD Blaster 2 Coil - Tach Issue
(Preview)
My 66 uses an MSD Ready to Run distributor (no box). I run a stock small cap to keep it looking original. My coil started to leak oil so I bought a new black MSD Blaster 2 coil. Once installed my vintage Sun SST 802 R tach would read way too high at idle. I switched it to a stock type coil and the tach works perfec...

I wanted to see my charging state on the 65 as I didn't install a voltmeter. I know Carl has done this before, and it's a good solution that covers both needs in a elegant way. The cigarette lighter is kind of redundant anyways. No idea on the parasitic drain it might put on the battery, but I'm assuming it'...
