3RD gear faceplant


I have a buick 350 running a T/A Performance intake. Under normal driving it shifts and runs fine. Go to pass it kicks down great takes off like a beast jumps to 80 no problem        (american sorrybiggrin) hit 3rd gear and falls on its face let off the gas hit it again no problem. Any ideas? And the Buick guys are jerks because its a Pontiac with a Buick engine from the factory.

that is what i thought replaced it. was having shifting problems before couldnt get out of second so i replaced the modulator problem gone for about a year. now just bogs out .

So when you say you let off and hit the gas again and no problem, is it staying in 3'rd but working Ok then or is it shifting down?.
And what tranny are you running?.

Do you need the float level adjusted?

When I was young and wet behind the ears (no smart comments about still being there) I ran a 327 Acadian at the track. It ran like a scared rabbit through the first two gears and did a total faceplant about the time it hit 3rd gear. A friend of mine in the pits knew Holleys very well. He did a quick float adjustment and presto!, problem solved. At least it was until my driveshaft broke in the middle and I ran over the back half of the shaft while it was still attached to the rearend.

That sounds like what mine is doing. I am running a quad it was rebuilt 2years ago befor the engine re build. i will give that a try next sunday.

It was emptying out the float bowl and starving.

It would be great if the fix was that simple for yours. It sure sounds exactly like it though.

It's not a plugged fuel filter by chance is it?

You might be under carburated. My 600 only has so much before it leans out, but any fuel related problems could cause it.

Got the problem fixed. Plugged fuel line. Don't know what the stuff is old filter pieces maybe. I will try to post a pic later and let the gurus take a stab at what it is.

Glad you found it. That's great.

Was it on the inlet side of the pump or outlet? Inlet side could be a deteriorated screen in the tank maybe?
