Florida Trip

Heading to Fort Lauderdale Sunday at 6am arriving at 1pm. We are going to thaw out for a couple of weeks as this has to have been the worst winter we have had in years. We still cannot see the road from our front picture window there is still so much snow. I hope by the time we come home most of it has melted. My wife is bringing her laptop so I'll still be able to have my daily Canadian Poncho fix.

Al

Winter storm warning in effect
CHQR Newsroom
3/21/2009

A winter storm warning is in effect for Calgary and southern Alberta.
It includes: Calgary, Okotoks, High River, Claresholm, Airdrie, Cochrane, Olds, Sundre, Drumheller, Three Hills, Brooks, Strathmore, Vulcan, Red Deer, Ponoka, Innisfail and Stettler.
Heavy snow and blowing snow is expected Saturday night and early Sunday. This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions.
An intense pacific low pressure system will develop in southern Alberta and Montana Saturday.
This system will at first produce showers.
Then, as the low pressure system intensifies, increasing northeasterly winds will develop and bring in colder air.
Precipitation will then turn to snow and become heavy at times Saturday evening. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres can be expected in some localities by Sunday morning.
In addition, strong northeasterly winds will develop producing blowing snow and reduced visibilities.

this winter storm can produce poor travelling conditions. persons in or near these areas should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and listen for updated warnings.

Great...... I'm heading back to Calgary tomorrow. :(
I had coffee outside this morning, and had a BBQ at a friends house this evening, and now it's back to winter.

Hope so!

Not likely that my car will be on the ground, having starter problems, bendix died, got it rebuilt locally by a guy who has been doing that for a looooooooong time, new drive supposed to be correct but it will not engage the flywheel even though it bench tests just fine. Gonna pull it out (for the umpteenth time) (did I mention that the bolt [actually nut on a stud] on the top is a real b**** to access? Luckily I tracked down the local Snap-On guy and bought a $42 15- and 60- degree wrench that allows me to unbolt it) and do some comparison with my old drive, he offered to replace the special Pontiac drive (last one he had in stock) with a longer Chevy drive, so we will see ...

Did get the rear suspension completed, only a little left to do on the brakes, but I do need to fabricate something to drop the emergency brake bracket under the passenger compartment lower for better driveshaft clearance with high lift rear springs.

Gimme a shout, Al!

Dave
