Been interested in this 67 Canso SD for over a year now. Problem is i lost the contact info when I changed jobs in January because my email was erased from my old work and I didn't archive it (Doh). I'll keep looking for the info, but in the mean time I have some questions about it.
1. Were the rally's shown on this car available in 67? I though they came out in 68 model year on some GM products. Anyone know?
2. Should there be an SD emblem below the glovebox door or was this only done in 66?
3. Should the trunk be splatter painted or should it be painted body color. This might be another 66/67 difference> Anyone?
If it means paying for GM Canada documentation to sort out exactly what it is, well then it's probably wort the cost. This car is not cheap, but it's about what I figure I'll have invested in my two door when it's done and it will only be a clone. This may be the real thing and it's finished.

1) The rally wheels (14") would have been included if disc brakes were ordered. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I would think the center caps should be the small style center, plain, no writing, same as the Beaumonts and full size Pontiacs used.
2) I don't know 67 SD's real well but I can only find an emblem listed for 66.
3) Pretty sure it should be painted, not splatter.

This one doesn't look done to me. It kind of looks ruff in certain areas. Is this car a original M-20 and if it is it's worth more. As for the emblems I have seen them in the lower right corner of the glove box for 67. I am not saying it's right, but thats where I have seen them. Most of the cars came with spinner hub caps and those center caps are wrong for the year. I must say that 67 is my favorite Canso. Good luck, Paul

I agree. The "top hat" or "sombrero" style rally centres did not appear until 1968 on any GM product.
Any GM '67 product ordered with rally wheels got a cap of this style, although what was written (or which logo appeared) on it differed by car line and whether or not it actually had disc brakes.
Not being a Pontiac expert, I have no idea what would have been on that car's caps.
The full-sized car would get this cap if it had disc brakes....
Yes, rally wheels were available without disc brakes, on Chevys at least.
WITHOUT...
WITH...
Another thing that I think is neat about this one-year-only style of cap is they really show off the depth of a wheel better than the sombrero style.
I think this should be the exact rally wheel cap for the 67 (without disc brakes). Ignore the dirt!!!
I believe the Pontiac V in the picture of the disc brake cap has been added. I don't think that was ever installed from the factory on the Pontiacs (just the "V" I am talking about)

I have seen ChevyII's with Stock rally's, but never a Acadian were they available? or did owners just put them on? How is the water level Carl? I am thinking about you.......
Here's an original '67 owner who claims that rally wheels were standard equipment on his SD396. I wonder if they came as a result of his ordering the....J52 Front Disk Brakes (Moraine)

The water is still a couple of weeks away but it's looking a bit grim at this point. The flooding is just starting at Fargo, ND 185 miles south of us. It takes roughly 12-14 days to work its way here. The bad news is there is a bad low pressure system just starting to dump a load of rain on the Red River Valley in North Dakota. That could be serious for us.

So I guess these spinner caps were the top of the line wheel cover for 67. I passed on a set of these about 3 years ago. Wishing I bought them now though.
I can't imagine very many of these spinner caps were factory installed. I'd really like to see a close up picture of the centre cap design. Please post a photo if you can. Looks like they came in red and black designs judging by the only two cars I have ever see running them. Someone must know for sure.
I doubt those spinner caps were factory in '67. Federal U.S. regulations outlawed spinners for the 1967 model year (for pedestrian safety) and that's why knock-offs were dropped from the Corvette option list.

Cool. I learned something new today. Although Chevy went to the "top hat"/sombrero/derby cap in 1968, Canadian Pontiac stayed with the small cap through 1970. I checked the 1970 full-size brochure and there they were as the standard wheel on the Parisienne 2+2. Unfortunately, you can't make out any detail on the cap, but it's hard to believe that they would settle for a black circle design.
I do much prefer the small style caps over the large ones.
So, here's a look at the caps in question on a beautiful car that I believe belongs to a member here. Maybe he could take a close up photo and post it here.
So the small cap would be Ok on my 69 Beaumont ? I hope so as I think they look better than the high ones. I have had these centres lying around for years. Would be nice to use them. Just need the small centre cap to put them on.
You could use these centre caps but the Chevy Bowtie emblem isn't correct. I think Carl will confirm this in a momment that you should use the black ribbed design only (no logo's).
