RE: Defense Minister demands apology from FOX News

And, looking at those bridges, I trust you'll agree that those of us in the area of the procession are representing the rest of Canada in a way that meets with your approval.

This shot is westbound in Oshawa. Just look at those bridges....1...2...3.....all full of proud, supportive Canadians sharing a bit of the grief with the families.

I've been on a bridge at least 25 times, and I never get through it without two things. 1. A lump in my throat. 2. Pride in my fellow Canadians.

I didn't want to say it because all the folks are Canadians representing us all, but it is Ontario after all, often on the receiving end of the Country's jibes. No one can fault Ontario in this instance. These photographs surely invoke pride in all who view them, and like me a lump in the throat and tears in the eyes as well.

It is worth noting for those who might be from other lands that this was never an organized event, it grew from a desire and need for the Canadian public to honour our fallen heros. It was a sponataneous display of National Pride that grows and grows each time.

Celine is all yours now!  I hear she is very popular in Los Vegas, how did your mom like the show? Your a better man than me, because if she was playing near here I would probably send my mom in a limo!

Bob, I would like to go, dare I say, next time. How do I find out what time the cortege leaves CFB Trenton and then ETA to the various overpasses into Toronto. Might be easier for me to head down to Grosvenor Street since we are practically downtown. Does the Cortege route go on the Don Valley Parkway, my office is just off the off ramp at Eglinton/Wynford ?

Ray,

The plane usually lands in Trenton at 2:00 pm, followed by a brief ceremony with the family. They then head west for the 172-km journey by about 3:00 pm, to arrive at the Chief Coroner's Office on Grosvenor Street, Toronto by approx. 5:15 pm. This is in the case of one fallen. When there are more, it takes much longer. If there are more than three, add at least an hour.

If there's one death, the cortege is made up of about 10-15 vehicles. When there are more deaths, it is very, very large. Believe me, when they're coming, every vehicle with lights flashing and sirens, NOBODY misses it.

CP24 usually runs live coverage at Trenton, as well as updates along the way, and stations like CFRB and 680News usually follow the progress.

When we learn of another death, it's usually two or three days later when the place arrives, depending on the time of day when it happens.

There is always advance warning of the day and time at http://northumberlandnews.com/

They roll down the DVP with the Chief Coroner's Office, on Grosvenor, as their destination. The local firehouses empty onto the street so the smoke-eaters can line up to salute, as do the neighbouring EMS and Paramedic Services too. And, the public stops what they're doing as they pass.

On my way to Ottawa recently, I knew three more were coming, so we timed it off to wait in Trenton until they passed. I bumped into Peter Mackay at Tim Hortons beside the 401, as he was getting ready to head to CFB Trenton, as he always does as Minister of Defence.

Many of us would imagine that GG Michaelle Jean's job is a cushy one, but if you see the look of anguish on her face that I've seen when the families greet the coffins, you wouldn't want her job that day............and she's there for every one.

I may get crucified on here but FOX NEWS ( as a hole ) is the only conservative staition in north america. We here in Canada do not have any.Yes I agree that he should be put through the shredder for saying what he said but we or they still have the freedom of speech how ever right or wrong it is. Ever since WW2 the Liberals here in Canada cut our millitary down to the bone and gave our forces over to the UN to be used as a bunch of PEECE KEEPING boy scouts ( We are a sovereign Nation and we should never give our men and women in the millitary over to any foreign power ).As a result the world still holds this veiw of our millitary as being such.Since the Conservatives here have taken power they have been slowly restoring our millitary into a real fighting force once again. If this nation were to be attacked could we ourselves defend ourselves without help from our neighbours to the south? So not all the blame should be put on outside forces. We are partly to blame ourselves for what the world thinks of us. Liberals will probably disagree me.

I disagree. FoxNews claims to be "fair and balanced"....as well as...."we report, you decide". How is that conservative, or are you saying that their reporting is conservative, but they're just pretending to be balanced?

There are plenty of conservative (or right-leaning) media outlets in Canada.

Yes. That's exactly why so many Canadians used their freedom of speech to voice their disagreement. wink

Why does one have to be a liberal to disagree?

Is FOX bias? or is CNN bias? You could say both are.One tells it from a consevative point of veiw and the other tells it from a liberal point of veiw. There is nothing wrong with that.I like things to be either black or white not grey.

No news outlet reports the news any more just their version of any event.
