RE: Rare dealer poster - 1973 GT

Hey everybody. Thanks to an invite from 73SC I thought I would jump on this forum. Attached are the dealer album pages on the '73 LeMans GT as it would be sold here in the states. It details how the GT option was packaged and listed what additional options could be ordered.

I just purchased a 44,000 mile '73 LSC GT last fall that was built in Oshawa from the original owner. It came with the base Pontiac 350 2bbl, auto trans, and very few options. Car is mostly original except for a repaint a few years ago. The original owner did not replace the GT stripes, but I plan to as soon as it warms it. The car is Florentine Red and I bought the gold/white GT stripe kit from Phoenix Graphix.

I will post some photos of the car as soon as I get done with detailing and stripe install.

Welcome!  Was the GT option added mid-year?

Hillar, the options show the SD-455 and we know that was cancelled in March of 1973 so the answer imo is no.

I'm just wondering where these sheets are from, they were not included as part of my 73 Dealer Album.

They may have been supplements, I've seen that before, usually the binders were released in August, so could have been after that.

The GT option was on hold at the start of the model year, but was released as per this Car Distribution Bulletin.

All the sales literature showed the SD455 available on A & G Bodies. I have bulletins that show the SD455 engine on hold all the way past February 1973. We all know how that ended up.

Welcome to the site BillyGoat73. There is a guy who put a SD455 into a 73 GTO. Do you know of the car I'm talking about?

Thanks for the welcome 455gto. I am very familiar with the SD455 GTO. I helped out Imran with some technical details and even went up to his house last winter to help him install the vinyl accent stripes on the car.

Saw the car in it's first show at Performance World in Toronto last year and it drew a lot of attention. It was very popular at the GTOAA Meet in Saratoga Springs, NY last summer, too.

Welcome Bill, I didn't realize you were so close by until I looked at your profile, but then again, I should have recognized your car.  I am a long time member of the Classic GTO Club of Ontario so I know Imran quite well also.  I don't believe he has sold the car has he?

As mentioned in the other thread, I have drivetrain specs showing the SD-455 available through early March, but as you said, we all know how that ended up...

I talked to Imran a couple weeks ago and he still has the car. I know he sold his set of black/red NOS stripes to Phoenix Graphics so they could reproduce them in all the colors. I need to collect royalties for them using a photo of my GTO in their ad.

I think he plans to bring the SD car to the HMP show in June and later on that month to the Can Am picnic, which the Ontario club is hosting this year. He told me Pete is back as president of the club and running the picnic. Looking forward to this summer.

Thanks for the compliment. Looking forward to the summer season and hopefully spending some more time north of the border this year.
