Holy Crap!

Has anyone been following the real estate market in Windsor Ontario? Houses are selling for as low as $25000! Yes, twenty five thousand dollars!
Here's a typical listing: CLICK HERE

This house is $30900 on a 30X100 lot!

The good old days are back, that's what I call reasonable pricing, now let see if I can buy a 70-74 TA for 5000$. My house is older than this one and I paid 3 times that price over a year ago HOLY CRAP !!!

Heard that vacation cottages in Michigan along Lake St.Clair & Lake Huron are way down in price also. It would be a great time to buy.

These prices seem to go as far east as Chatham. I feel bad for the owners of these homes. If the CAMI plant closes here in town we may be faced with the same problem. My neighbor sells real estate and he hasn't sold a house in weeks. Two years ago houses sold within a week around here..

one of my neighbours decided to downsize last year before the market dropped out, bought a condo downtown (not that here is that big) without selling their home first or on conditions. well he has 2 mortgages right now and i don't have to explain it any further.

or maybe a second house in Florida, to escape Canadian winters - bottom has fallen out of the inflated market here and people have finally realized it and prices are waaaaaaaaaaaaay low:

the houses at the beginning of the string (especially the interior shot) look like they could have been in "Gran Torino".

Great! Then I can have someone standing by to hand me wrenches while I am under the car! smile.gif

Ummm, Canada hasn't switched to metric so badly that no one remembers what a 9/16" wrench looks like anymore, I hope. wink.gif

ˇAy, caramba!   (that's from my OTHER neighbors, to the South not the North, eh?) it may be as I feared, cannot tell a 1/2" (that's one-half inch, doncha know) from 9/16" from 5/8" I will be under the car all day long! biggrin

Whats really ironic is that the design work i've done for the US gov't/Military had to all be produced in Metric... everything for the Canadian Gov't was in Imperial (or at our discretion)... ??

ak

a 9/16 is a 15 with a gentle pull, and a 1/2" is a 12 with a hammer... :)

Our home Prices havn't taken such a plunge.  Fortunately we don't have the severe problem of unpayable mortages, A few have gone over their heads.  Can't say the same for the motor market!  Just bought 3 DKW cars for restoration for only $250 CAD for the lot!  All standing on wheels!  Spares alone are worth 20 times more!

I think Real Estate is a joke where we are. Can't even find a house less then $400,000 in our area. I don't even like the city that much, I prefer lots of land.

But I do really like Victorian homes. None of those in our area. The only ones I can find near here, is half hour away, and there all being demolished.

This one here, is in London up for sale

Ya, They also renovated and modernized the inside of that house too.

I just like the look of those old houses.

I know of another smaller victorian home for sale in woodstock for 150 000. But there was no photos of the inside.

Older homes are nice with all the character they possess but also remember they require a fair bit of upkeep. My house is 120+
