Geeze guys, are we getting to old to remember the old "drive it like you stole it!" adage??

I believe your opinion may change when you have 3 additional drivers on your policy like I do, age 21, 19 and 16. You'd be surprised what you will preach at them. The key is to keep the number of cars on the road less than the drivers you have. That's why I lent one out. That single male 19 year old if cars equal drivers would add $4,800 to my policy with a perfectly clean record!

Yeah I know, I still have a few years to go before my kids start to mess with my insurance. It's to bad that a perfect driving record dosen't mean squat along with age. One again, Canada well on it's way to becoming a communest country! What can you do? Once a cash cow is in place, good luck killing it! furious

I should also add that when my eldest daughter was added to our policy after driver training in High School and passing her G2, my monthly rate dropped $18. I never asked why. Young Males however seem to attract a mentality from insurers that is basically throw out a number and see if they will pay it!

The irony is that the male is a much better driver in my opinion, he has even had emergency driving training and qualified to operate Provncially owned police equipped vehicles as a result of his summer employment with the Ministry of Resources Law Enforcement Division.

I spoke w/ the lad at the impound yard and he confirmed the story..
The Camaro was a silver one and the GM guy was nabbed doing 150Kph in a 70 zone (about 95Mph in a 45)..
It's 7 days for the impound thing and it sounds like it must've been earlier the car was taken as it's already been returned to GM after staying the req'd days..

On the helmets, my cousin on the ski patrol was first on the scene w/ two fatalities this season and told me helmets wouldn't have made any difference in either as it's the brain impacting the inside of the skull that causes the problem..
Much like the bicycle helmets, fit and styles dictate much of the good these things would ever do so unless ski helmets were mandated to a Snell approved motor-racing style, the result will be more that of sales and tax $ generated than safety..

On the insurance thing, not that I'm for or against either way but why in today's world of equal rights and supposedly no discrimination against specific individuals regardless of sex, race or religious beliefs does a male cost more for insurance?.
Sure the different cars have no rights so statistics for accidents and payouts of a Camaro verses a Corolla would dictate higher premiums but as far as individuals go, shouldn't the costs be divided and shared equally by everyone regrdless of sex?.

You would think that the driving record, and not the sex of the individual would be what matter's. Oh well what can you do? Maybe boycott all the insurance companies? Not feasable but a nice pipe dream.

When will someone with enough money and time challenge this violation of our Charter Rights called the 'Ontario Street Racing Law'?

If they want to impound my car and driver's licence on the side of the road, they need to bloody well have a judge, stenographer and my lawyer with them before they do it. We'll hash it out in the judge's van. Roadside justice, issued by the accusing officer, is total crap.
wink

Remember this name..........he's considering running for the leadership of the provincial Tories -- the bill was designed by Newmarket MP and former Minister of Transportation Frank Klees.

Here's a quote from Tim Chisholm who had a conversation with him.....

"I had an argument over the phone with Klees in the spring of 2006 when a `safer roads bill was initially proposed. My argument was simple: the new law could sink a car enthusiast who is doing nothing wrong, other than simply driving his or her modified car.

Its because the bill negatively profiles the modified car enthusiast and gives the officer full discretion, with no due process for the accused. Pretty simple, a copper having a bad day can screw a car enthusiast simply because he chooses to. When I suggested that this will happen often if 203 becomes law, Klees told me he `could live with that'."

There you have today's politician. We're all considered bad guys until proved otherwise. After all, if they don't use laws like this, the terrorists win. evileye

Madness prevails.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, wait 6 months and after all the baby boomers have gotten theirs, GM will be offering incentives to move this car.   You heard it here first. wink

I've seen 3 on the road now. 2 red ones and a yellow one today on the 401. It's odd that the Challenger is 2 model years old already and you hardly ever see any. The Camaro is a 2010 and they are already on the road. Just like back on the '70's

I saw a blue -take note Darryl- V6 model on the way to work the other day on the Lakeshore.  A couple of very attractive young females inside too.  I guess it would be too crass of me to say it is working once again as a secretary's car, they were probably professionals of some type.wink

You must have seen the same truck I did this morning with the 2 B5 Blue Challengers?

No, this one had about 5 of them. I saw them heading westbound near London around 5:45pm tonight. I like Petty Blue!

I've been seeing Challengers around these parts on the road. There's a depot where the car haulers stop near the Flying J in London.

This B5/Petty Blue Spring Edition Challenger is very nice. Does anyone know if they have been released for sale in Canada yet?

Hi 67Heaven.  I agree with you 100%. I hope some one with money fights this law soon. He would not need to get the law abolished, just have it toned down some.
Racing on the streets is one thing, and driving 200 km. per hour is not real smart either, but taking your car through the gears aggressively on a traffic free country road should not be called racing, with penalties assessed (per a cops discretion) in
the same manner as the other offenses mentioned. We must have laws but there also has to be fairness involved. All circumstances must be taken into consideration.
