Pontiac Gassers?

Anyone have any pics of gasser canadian pontiacs?  Or even gasser style?

Never seen one - but would be stoked to see one. Google-time.

Mr.409 has a 46 canadian coupe.
Maybe he will post some pics.   It's Gasser-ish  327 4-speed fendewell headers
This pic is terrible, but you get the idea

I have seen that one before - what about 55-57 canadian pontiacs?

I would have thought they would have been as popular as the chev's.  I am leaning that way for my car and am looking for inspiration.

Well mine is gasser-inspired, will be more so when the Ansen Sprint Mags are on it with big-n-little tire combo, and even more so when the 496 big-block goes in, however I will not be putting a straight axle in it, I prefer the stock front end design.

I'll be adding some speed decals, like this:
496 A-Gas 1.jpg

And I do intend to see what she'll do at the drag strip.

Seeing pics of your neighbourhood is just killing me Dave, it brings back a lot of fond memories of time spent in FL.  I just hope it gets warm enough to melt all of our remaining snow before the Easter Parade on Sunday!

If you are going to do decals....go with some vintage style ones. They sell them in various places and they look much cooler.

I am trying to decide if I want to keep the front bumper on my 57 or not right now.

-1- Yes I did consider that but every racer has always used whatever the current speed parts in his car are, so my thinking is that if I were to use the way-cool-looking but not-applicable-to-my-car old decals, I would not be true to the spirit of racing. So I will go with Scat (forged crank and H-beam rods), Brodix (aluminum heads), Comp Cams (hey, I used their cams 30 years ago in my road race Corvette when they called themselves Competition Cams, still have one of their original decals on my air tank, the current one is a hydraulic roller cam), and of course Milodon and Hedman Hedders do go waaaaaaaaaaay back.

- 2 - Front bumpers (a) are heavy, and as we all know less weight up front makes for better traction, and (b) hate to admit it but the late 50's Pontiac front bumpers were ugly (especially the 56), so (c) dump that thing, and if you are feeling really bucks up, put a Moon tank up there! smile.gif

IMHO.
Dave

There used to be a '55 Pontiac 2 dr post that raced on the East Coast called "The Tantramar Terror" when I was a kid in the '60's. Flat black like Dave's. Maybe 427 Carl would remember it?

Was going to sugest the moon tank for yours to. You could use for the rad overflow. And would look cool as Hell.

You know, I have agonized over this for a long time, but so far, I have my heart set on a 54 Chevy grille with extra teeth. floated ....

But that Moon tank out front ... ahhh, better than sex ...

Have to tell you, I have also thought about a Moon tank (for super-high-octane-racing-gas-only, plumbed with SS braided line to dedicated electric fuel pump to the solenoids) out front AND a polished nitrous oxide tank out there in tandem, whoa what a sight to see and blast-off performance to match!!!???

Decisions decisions decisions smile.gif

Dave

I have a real neat picture of a 1963/64 Acadian hardtop that is mile high with a straight axle. The car is brown/aztec bronze in colour? The picture was taken in 1974 at a car show at Lawson Park, near Freelton Ontario. I don't have any way at this time to post the picture, anybody on here remember this car? I will attempt to post this pic when I get some help doing this (not all that computer savvy when it comes to posting pictures).

A moon tank out front, if used for fuel is not NHRA legal without a cage around it.  A nitrous tank out front....just not legal period.

A lot of manufacturers that have been around for a while still have the vintage stickers available.    I just think new style stickers would look out of place on a car that is being built in a 60's gasser style.

I have put up an old Hot Rod magazine article on how to put a straight axle under a Tri-5 Chevy. The principles can be used for any vehicle.
