thats good that it will come with all of the pulleys etc.etc... hopefully there's a decent set of heads on there and you're good to go! probably fairly low mileage too... what are your plans for the motor?
I'll take it apart- go through it, see what i have. Build a nice street/strip motor - like 400 horse power.Nothing to radical, a nice driver. Air gap intake, sheet metal valve covers, msd etc. this week i'll take some pics for you guys, my buddy "Impala" Rob fired it up a couple of hours ago, says it runs good, but has a slight bottom end knock (no big deal going to rebuild anyway) see ya later 65s/d
I bought a lake front lot up in the Parry Sound area 5 years back an it came with an old Dodge Banner motor home that is grand fathered to the lot for use. It was a big surprice when I checked under the dog house. Not many people can say " I`ve got a 440 under the hood of my cottage"
Ya Ian its a way alot of guys dont think of in findinig big blocks just find them offer to take them away strip what u need they often have low miles and are easier to find then muscle car big blocks p/s u should see the sway bar ill take a pic and post it later i think its about 2 inches thick tks Ian keep in touch 65s/d
I bought one from a 73 motorhome, gen 4, 454 4 bolt mains, 400 turbo (long tailstock) for $600. Rebuilt it, the heads are the small oval style called "peanut port", had the machine shop cut .100 thous. for 1 more point of compression now 9.5, cast pistons, comp cam hydraulic 518 lift, comp cam beehive valve springs, new lifters, new guides, valves and pushrods,re and re the rods, crank turned 10 under, bought a new Edelbrock performer intake, mellings high volume oil pump, tanked the block and all reassembled for total of $3600 including the purchase price. Has been oiled and waiting to go into a 64 chevy11. Should be a real torque monster!
