Signing off for a while...

As some of you already know, tomorrow I'm going under the knife for hip surgery, getting new bearings and a new universal joint. wink
Don't know when I will be on here again, although they will let me have a Blackberry in the hospital so when the doping wears off I may try and post an incoherent message or two.
Everyone enjoy the great weather and get those cars out and start driving them, I'll be living vicariously through you guys for a while. nod.gif
C1, stay safe, I'll be thinking about you. thumbsup.gif

Thanks very much for the good wishes Hillar.

Same for you. Stay safe, healthy and have a speedy recovery. We'll be watching for some of those stoned writings of your's on here!

Don't let them install any of those cheap offshore parts in you!

What Hillar forgot to mention is that he left his 396 manual shift Camaro Convertible in the care and custody of 65Camino who as luck would have it lives basically 100 yards from me. Hillar has written down the mileage and checked the tread depth on the rear tires but that ain't stoppin us!! biggrin On top of that we are going to Hillar's place while he is on the hoist and putting his Bas A$$ 1968 GTO on the road.

On a serious note Best Wishes Buddy and if Hillar is not up to it we will certainly let everyone know your progress.

Hillar subscribes to every car magazine published so well wishers may send Playboy to my attention for delivery to Hillar at the Hospital. wink

All the best Hillar, you should be ready for a summertime tour in Timmins in July. I had a plastic big toe joint installed about 8 years ago due to a fused ankle and it sure relieved a lot of my pain.

Wow, I didn't know you were having hip surgury. Don't you remember when you click "I accept" to join CP you have to tell the guy running it everything that's going on in your life (well, not everything)?
All the best and speedy recovery!

Todd

Thanks for all the good wishes guys!  I am not getting the full hip replacement but rather a "resurfacing" where they put in something that looks like this:

They shave the top of the femur resurfacing it and put in this new cap instead of cutting the femur and putting the long metal rod in like they do in traditonal hip replacement.  Recovery time is supposed to be much faster.  A colleague in the office had exactly the same operation last year, same surgeon, same hospital and he was back in a month, although in hind sight, he wishes he would have taken a little more time off.  I plan to be back to work full time June 1st, right after the Stanley Cup is awarded.  Notice my timing, the playoffs start tonight, what better time to book a period when you will be off than the beginning of the playoffs.  There is a method to my madness!biggrin

And if they give you enough medication it will appear to you that the Maple Leafs won the cup!

(Don't think that I'm bashing the Leafs, the little bit that I do follow hockey I cheer for the Leafs)

Hey Hillar...Looks like they are going to install a new ball joint in your hip! (LOL) Just make sure it's OEM and not some off -shore knock off! Seriously, take care and all the best.

A good friend of mine her had this done a month back. He is about 35 years old but being on the O line during the high school football days, he got injured and he was really hurting these past few years to the point of rolling off the couch to get up! He had one side done and now he is a new man walking lots etc!!

So best wishes on a great surgery and a very speedy recovery!!!
Remember to ask them to save the old parts for warranty!!

I think you need to make an appt. with Dr. Summeroff after the surgery. No point in rushing back to work. A summer of driving around in old cars can be theraputic. Best of luck to you.
