I have a 66 Beaunont with 15 x 7 rally rims, what is the best tire combo ??? I have seen cars with about a 2" taller rear tire and like the look. What do you guys think ?
I prefer close to stock ride height whatever tire and wheel size is used. Most peeople favour the lowered look these days. A higher rear end throws out headlight aim and speedometer readings, harder on front brakes etc...Just my view.
im not a big fan of how lower profile tires ride. I have a pt cruiser with 17" rims and low pro tires and i think it rides awlfull. I also cracked a rim and wrecked a brand new winter tire in a pothole. In my opinion unless its an all out custom low pros dont really look right. I say go with the classic bf goodrich radial TA,s with the raised white letters, always looks good. I have them on my 59 right now (they were on my 79 trans am) and they ride nice.
I've run 7s on the front and 8s on the back, 235-60s and 275-60s, it gives a bit of a rake. You could probably use 245-60 in the back and 235-60 in the front, that rear wheel well can take lots of tire! the 275 is 2" taller than the 235. a 245 would only be 1/2" taller, but would probably be the biggest i'd go on a 7" rim...you could squeeze on a 255...
ak
here's a pic of the stance, original sbc front springs (but with bbc in the car) and stock repro rear springs...
Im runnin steelies on mine that are 15X7 got a set of 235/60s on the front and 255/60s on the rear I think there are a few shots of the side stance on here somewhere A little higher in the rear but not a lot
I like the higher look too, but also like some rake, gives the car a more aggressive look. I am thinking TA,s P255/60R15 10" WIDE 26.8" HIGH FOR REAR P215/60R15 8" WIDE 25.2" HIGH FOR FRONT.
