hey guys check this out: a few weeks ago I told you about cleaning out this guy's 30 year collection of Pontiac/Beaumont parts. we removed 7 rolling chassis, for moving all the stuff I got a 65 s/body chassis. But the interesting thing is, was the reinforcement bracket and these funky ladder bars. I don't know if they were (Lakewood) or some home-made set up. so if anybody knows about these let me know... P/S... NO THESE ARE NOT FOR SALE! thanks 65s/d
Not sure if they are homemade or not but there used to be a 67 SD in our area that had exactly that style on there for years. Supposedly they cured the wheel hop but the visual side of them is not ideal.
I'd long forgotten about seeing those!

I'm in Duncan on Vancouver Island. Did you order a interior for your car through Bud because we managed to get a deal through legendary to get real 65 Beaumont interiors. I can't wait to see them.
Those bars look a little different than what you usually see. The Lakewood bars are used in conjunction with the lower control arms, but in your case they relace the lower control arms. Also, I believe those reinforcement brackets came on the 4 speed cars.
I had a pair for my 67, i never put them on, i coudnt figure it out... i had them on a prostreet skylark too, but i was told they'd make the 4 link bind? I'm not sure if they ever worked right on a 4 link car?
That pic you have is interesting in that it replaced the lower link, thats different...
Ya i think ill just put them on my wall seema bit to scary to run on the street, as for the rebars im going to reinforce them [box them in] before putting them on my car tks 65s/d
The upper re-inforcements were present on big block cars with 4 speed or automatic. Too much rear axle twist without them. Hard to find items!! Also have the lakewood trac bars, like the ones in the picture. Had to remove them when I installed a sway bar.
Did yours replace the lower bars or go on the side of them? Did they actually improve wheel hop? I know alot of people use 'no-hop' bars on the top 2 at the diff to change the pinion angle and geometry on these cars to get them to hook better...
The Lakewood bars actually made the car ride rougher. Boxed in the lower bars when we installed the sway bar, and don't seem to have wheel hop. When you mash 450+ HP to the ground, those 17" Good Year Eagles just like to Smoke (he-he) SNOW SNOW GO AWAY!!!!
Smoking tires never gets old. My 65 SD 4 spd never hops but has all the bushings and springs replaced with boxed trailing arms. I don't run a rear sway in that car because it rides very stiff already.
