It turn out to be a beautiful day and I did pretty good at the swapmeet today selling wise. As usual, it was nice to see some of the Manitoban Canadian Ponchoers and I sneaked a picture out of them chatting. I didn't find anything for my 1972 Pontiac Lemans 400 but I got some connections. There is Dave and my stall behind the trailer of my little Honda Civic beater, at least it's good for something...Dave also did real good with his dollorama sell a cheap part. LOL !IMG_1271.JPGIMG_1272.JPG

Might as well put names on all of them.

Beaumontguru (Dave) left side, black hat red trim

Beaumont4008 (Ian) back to the camera. (Sure hope that's Ian, I think it is!)

Rolilk (Rodger) Canadian Poncho T shirt

62Beaumont (Joel) black cap and jacket, sitting on the tailgate

And me, fat and lazy in the lawn chair with my Pontiac winter jacket on still.......!

Missing from the pic but in the stall left of the picture was 2Qwik2C (Andrew) and to the right of us was OldGoat, a friend of mine who has a whopping 2 posts on here!

57Poncho is also not in the pic and he sneaked out sometime around 11 I think to go to work.

Fake68was in a different area selling big block Canadian Pontiac parts (heads, intake, 4 core radiator) as well as some other stuff.

It was a great day. We had a ton of fun. Dave's nothing-over-$10 vendor stall was sure a hit. He was going like gangbusters still when I left at noon to pay my Mother's day dues.

I hope I didn't miss any of you. Great day and great weather for a swap meet.

Yea thats me . I walked around after that pick and scored a 350 4 bolt block and turbo 350 core for $150 bucks. Its a 3970010 Mckinnon block . Will make a nice 355 for my Beaumont.

What's a Mckinnon block Ian? I've never heard of that.

Are you sure on the 4 bolt main part of that? Did you have the pan off? I'm always scared of people claiming 4 bolts but they have never checked to confirm it.

Wow, can't beat that price. That long oil fill tube suggests to me it is from a pick up truck so that would confirm the 4 bolt mains. McKinnon is the St. Catharines foundary owned by GM. All Canadian engines came from there.

Did all pickups have 4 bolt? I would not have known that.

Block 3970010 was used from 69 to 79 and came in 2 and 4 bolt. Trucks and Hi perf. cars were 4 bolt with this block and had a hi nickel content. He wanted $ 250 to start and I thought that was a good price. Got him down to $150.  Had to go home with something .

Good deal on the 010 350.    Ive seen 010 with 2 or 4 bolt mains.
I use to think that the dead giveaway was the 8" balancer, but even that isnt a sure thing.

I did good, sold about 80% of my stuff.  Another 10% went in a dumpster before i got home.  So only 10% of my crap had to go back in the garage.

Thanks to all involved for having to guard my stuff, while i was off buying more crap.
Was a really fun day, and got to hang out with a great bunch!

All truck engines as Beaumont4008 confirmed.  A real beast for a muscle car would be a late model 5.7 Vortec from a Pick up or Suburban.

I had a good time too.

I didn't find any Acadian parts I needed but I bought some sbc stuff from Dave and got a grill guard from Carl. Can't wait to throw them on the car.
