Trim rings, yay or nay?

A friend came over to see the Laurentian today. His first comment was "Where's the trim rings?" Me, being a fan of that poverty cap look chose not to have trim rings but he isn't the first guy to comment about them not being there. So, in the democratic tradition, I've created a poll.  What do you guys think? The poll runs for a week.

To refresh memories, here's what the wheels look like now:

I would put them on, they were part of the 2+2 package with those centre caps.

I really like the clean no trim look and feel the ring will take something away from the redlines..

Dog dish factory body color steel rims are my favourites though...especially on Post cars!.

Nay. I like the dog dish cap look without the rings. That's how I run my vette wheels.

I don't know if my vote will count Todd, but I still say it doesn't look complete without them.

Over here the trim rings was the ultimate statement!!! Nice finishing touch!

I suspect the option then was:
large dogdish = no trim rings
small caps = with trim rings.

So it all depends on what size caps you are fitting.

I can't tell you how many people tell me they know where I can get trim rings for my wheels, or they came with trim rings you know. Little do they know the car came trim less. I agree with Hillar in this case put it the way it would come from GM.

As a Laurentian, I think the ringless look suits the car.

I think its your car do what you like. It looks great with out them and would probably look just as good with. But is all about individuality and what one guy likes the next will hate. So you can't please every one so you got to please your self.

Since you twisted my arm for a decision, it is close but I say yay to the rings.

put 'em on.  There were 2 types of trim rings available, one an eliptical hole and has 4 attaching clips around the outside.  The other has a oval hole, with stainless clips all the way around.  When I changed the convertible from 6" wide wheels to 7" wide wheels, the trim rings with the eliptical hole came off the 6" wheels, but wouldn't go on the 7", the trim rings were just slightly too big.  I had to scramble to find some of the oval hole ones.

I'd go with the rings especially with the red lines. No rings, then you need some M/T's on the back !

I voted no too. I had 8" Vette rims freshly painted factory silver with the center caps on my 66 SS396 and the car looked better without the trim rings IMHO. It had redlines like yours and the trim rings added too much chrome to the look.

Also you won't have to worry about curb rash on the trim rings smile.gif

i think 57 poncho hit the nail on the head, put it the way you like it! i think they would add a touch of completeness to the car.
