Trim rings, yay or nay?

A Vette or SS with trim rings????? That is a no-go!!!! It is like placing a plastic orange on the tip of your car arial!!!

I've taken a good look at the rim and cap and must say no rings!!  Only with large dogdish!~

I got the rims from Coker. They are powder coated. I still can't decide if I like the rings. I'm kind of a Plane Jane kind of guy..

Actually original Corvette rally wheels for 1967 Corvette wre 6" wide -- 8" did not come along until 1969 (1968 was one-year-only 7").

However the 8" wheels did fit surprisingly well on my 67 L-88 clone, and allowed meatier tires (always a good thing smile.gif )

Strangely I did like the trim rings on my Corvettes, but I preferred them off on my Chevelle ... dunno why ... but I still vote "no" on Todd's car.

Although it now looks like the end result will be 2 to 1 in favor ... still allowing plenty of wiggle room for Todd to do what he prefers!

Dave

Bottom Line;   run what YOU like!!   as a result of this poll, I am taking "off" my trim rings  (rwl tires and 7 inch)  and installing my 8 inch w/o trim rimgs  lol    BUT  I can run both...

Just a tip!  On my previous Nissan, I sprayed the rims with Mirror Chrome (Flat finish) and then finished with Clear Laquear.  What a pleasant surprise!

In the immortal words of Ernestine the operator:  "One ringy dingy...snork snork... two ringy dingies!"  In other words, ring it Todd!

*sigh* I can't believe the outcome of the survey. I think it was rigged. biggrin

I'll consider the trim rings.  I know! I'll put rings on one side and none on the other! Everyone wins! smile

Todd, as an outsider, With Red Liners: NO TRIM RINGS!!!!!  Look at 67 Heavens Vette.  Plain black sidewalls!!!  i.e. if plain go with rings, if fancy, stay away!!

It's time for the no-ringers to admit defeat and suck it up!!!

'Course, if you were the Bloc Quebecois, you'd have another vote in a week or two since you don't like this result.

If my above statement has offended anyone, I will gladly delete it. It's just a personal observation from a Westerner...
