Sometimes its as simle as a ground!     Find a piece of cardboard, to lie on... Look for ground wire going into gas tank area,  or put the piece of card board under the car, and get a friend to lie on it      Help him up , after he has fixed the problem!biggrin

i have no freinds but lots of cardboard!! The wire is grounded as i can see but i should probally take it off and clean it and take it back to metal and re-attach it.

turn the ignition to on, unplug the tank unit to guage wire, (tan color usually) the guage should go to overfull. then ground the same wire, the guage should read empty. if all this happens your guage and wire to it are good. if the ground to the sending unit is good, replace the sending unit.

Have the same problem with my 60, always on empty, Carry a jerry can full of gas with me...and everyday put a few bucks in. But I have to remove my tank anyways, because of the crap that gets sucked up and blocks the line, so it feels like I run out of gas every few blocks...LOL Lots of fun

You should take your tank to a radiator place & have it flushed.
