Battery charging question


Please forgive my forgetfulness. I think I have asked this before on here. If I hook two separate 10 amp chargers to a battery, if they both go the full 10 amps am I charging the battery @ 20 amps?

I don't think it works like that Carl. I guess you are trying to speed up the charging process. I'm not 100% sure though.

to tell you the truth, as the chargers are in parallel across the battery, I'd be more concerned about the chargers screwing each other up and cooking a charger.

Being in parrallel poses no problem as the voltage flow (DC) is in the same direction.  Problem is when they try to charge each other!!!!ashamed

Never got brave at the cabin. I just used the solar to charge as well as the generator a bit.

One thing I did learn, (slightly off topic) is that the heating pad my wife uses to help with some pain she has is not very hard on my deep cycle batteries. I kept testing the batteries while she used the heating pad the first day when we were there. The pad draws 50 watts. It didn't take a lot for the 30 watt solar panels to recharge the batteries so after that I told her to use the heater all she wanted. How can something that gets so hot (the pad) draw so little current?
