Ray, your car would look cool with body colored steel wheels and those caps....and a big block...and a 4 speed...
110% in agreement !!
aren't the moon caps correct for your car Ray?
We're talking big block with a 4 speed and you bring up correct ?
Technically I think the moons are "incorrect" as well since they were a GTO item and ring less Rally II were for the GT option. I don't think I've ever seen a 73 LeMans with dog dish so I don't think they were standard, probably a full wheel disc was.
C'mon Ray, dog dishes were standard on Lemans at least through 77 and I'm pretty sure after the downsizing in 78 as well, full wheel covers have never been standard equipment, always an option. I'm sure you have posted a few pics like this as well!
I'm willing to bet a and a at Timmies that the moon caps were standard equipment on a 73 Lemans.

That's fine but my car is a LeMans Sport not a LeMans and your question related to my car and the moon caps which I still maintain are not "correct". Even the photo you posted has dig dish identical to the ones in the auction, the subject of this post. I think the Moons were GTO only. If we find dog dish were standard in 73 I think they will be the ones posted not moons.
My 72 400 4bl Endura Lemans wagon came with these caps.
Not to thread steal, but I would love to hear all about that Endura Lemans wagon!
As for the Rally Moon hub caps, Pontiac used a Baby Moon style with the arrowhead on them in 1973 (and perhaps the odd 1974) only. They were used on Lemans (an old neighbor had one since new in '73 through 1978 after trading in her '65 Skylark), Ventura (a classmate's mother owned a '73 Ventura hatchback with them new; she traded in her '66 Chevelle 300 convertible for it), plus Firebirds (a friend had a '73 Firebird with them & trim rings). In other words, cars in 1973 with 14" wheels (did the GTO offer 15" as an option in '73? They did in 71/72.)
The caps shown at the start of this thread were from 1972 and carried over through the rest of the 1970's except as noted. I remember 2 new 1973 Laurentians with them as well. They are also shown in my 1975 Canadian editions of the full-size model brochure and the Lemans brochure.

Carl thats actually another wagon I bought. The 72 Endura wagon is Wilderness Green with Tan interior I bought it in FLA in 1992 fro the original owner. After spending a couple days making it roadworthy me and a friend drove it home.I drove the car periodically thru the late 90's. The car is a real 1972 LeMans 400 4bl M40 Endura wagon (around 100 produced) also has A/C,gauges,PWR windows.Formula wheel, tilt, cruise,am radio.Actually thought I would sell this after I accuired the other wagon but really hard to let a original Dog Dish cap car go.
