RE: For sale 1966 Pontiac Grande Parisienne

66 GP is a sharp looking car. Seems fairly priced.

I wish I didn't have to keep looking at pictures of this car on here. It's driving me crazy, too many good memories!

Looks like mine, except this one is in one piece.
If I had the money, I'd be there. Would be cool to drive it while I was finishing mine.

Hi Wanda, has the car ever been painted, or that the original?

The car was black originally.

I wanted to throw a question out there and hopefully someone can give me some feed back...if I get all the work done to my pontiac, how much could it sell for? I'm looking into investing into it and then making something off of it to go towards a wedding. (I know, it's quite the toss up) however I've vowed to myself that I will buy another ponitac within the near future once I have a garage to put it in. Preferably a GTO ot Catalina. Any feed back is appreciated!!! Thanks. Lee-Ann

I would not spend the money now to do this if you have a wedding to pay for. We are in a tough time for recouping big dollars spent on old cars. The bodywork is usuallly thousands of dollars if its done right and there are cars like this for sale restored that are selling for less than the cost of a good paintjob. This is still a great car for the price, but probably someone will buy it that has the ability to do the body. I have a daughter getting married too !!

Okay, thanks for the input.  It makes sense for sure. I'll just keep it for sale as is. Thanks again and congrats on your daughter's upcoming wedding!

I agree with Elroy. For a car that you love and want to keep, the price of bodywork is expensive but must be done to be happy. If your intention is to sell then the new owner should do it to their standards of acceptability.
I don't believe it would be reasonable to think that you can pay someone to improve the vehicle and get that back in resale value in today's market.

490601.jpgWell it's finally here at my house, looks not too bad,it's gona need Quarters and front fenders repaired. If any one has spare parts I'm looking for a drivers door mirror, and the body side mouldings for both sides..someone put stick-on junk where the factory stainless goes. Any way..I finally have it and it's time to get at er..Body off restoration coming up, I just need to get the 52 mercury truck out of my shop that I sold and i'm waiting for the new owner to come and get it,in a couple weeks..for now I'm cleaning..Lot's of great options on this car like Power antenna, Tinted Glass,Rear speaker,Sway bar,327,Power windows,Very cool.. Strato bench, that I have never seen before,I had a bucket seat car some years ago and this seat looks like buckets with an arm rest in the middle instead of a concel. Well I gotta go to the carport now..I hear it calling me...

Congratulations on your purchase Jim, it has the makings of a nice car at a reasonable price. There is one about 5 minutes from my house that is complete but needs to be restored and hasn't seen daylight in more than 20 yrs. Sadly one of those guys that is going to restore it someday and probably never will. Good Luck with your new project.

Very sad ...keep workin on him though..I have had a 52 mercury 1/2 ton since 1983, that I have restored 95 percent and I said I would never sell it....and I just did.  Every old car needs a good home!!

I've started a reference thread in the 65-70 full size topic area, Grande Parisienne vs. Grand Prix. I closed it because it can serve as good reference but that doesn't mean we don't want information. Send me a PM with suggestions and I will update. Closing it just keeps it tidy.

So I ordered some fender skirts from a friends car in the states and (wadaya) know..they don't fit. The wheel openings on the us cars are about 1/2 an inch bigger than our Canadian cars? Strange? Sucks to be me
