Seems like our governments and industry continue making foolish moves every day now...as if they're reaching up out of the toilet bowl and pulling the friggin' handle..

Sorry to hear. How many cars do they normally sell? What other dealers are nearby?

Is this a case where GM close up only to have someone else move in close?

Well Carl I really don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. I spoke with my dad and they still don't know if they are in or out the bosses went for a meeting about a hour a go but all the sales men had customers so they wouldn't of said any thing till they are gone

My thoughts also. Good luck, and remember" When One door closes, a Window of Oppurtunity opens"

Also sorry to hear that. I do by no means understand the car business but with my little eyes it seemed mostly a GM problem and not their dealerships. I can't see the problem of flying their flag even if sales are way down. Talking to a good friend of mine here who is a service advisor he says the shop is as busy as ever obviously because people are hanging on longer to their existing vehicles. There obviously is a whole lot more to it but I would guess that alot of the smaller established dealers still could make a go of it with their shop and not be a burden to GM. Anyhow I really hope everything works out for you and I'm sure it will after I read how you face challenges. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that. 49 years! So it seems the axe has also started to swing north of the border. I hear a whole bunch in the general Red Deer area are going to get the axe. This is pretty brutal stuff! I'm a trailer dealer, and I am keeping close watch on that industry as well. One never knows. I have three major brands, kinda Ford,  Gm and Chrysler, so I hope one or two survive.
Best of luck.

The rumor mill says that both the Woodstock Ont GM dealer and Ingersoll (my old dealer) have been spared. I suspect one of the London dealers will be hit (There's 5).

A friend of mine-is a parts guy at the local Pontiac dealer. When the Atlas Steels closed 5 years ago he told me that we all made too much money anyway ($20.19/hr) (he's at $35,000/yr so I guess $15 an hour). Last I spoke with him, we talked about dealer closings-he said theres too many dealers in this area anyway, 2 in Welland, 1 in fonthill, 1 in Port Colborne-wonder which of those will close.

The word on the street here is
Dale Wurfel in Strathroy- Cut

London Motor Products - Cut-**CORRECTION-Now told LMP is safe and that Brian Finch is winding down in 4 months... who knows...

Dale Downie London - Cut

Wallis Motors in Sarnia closed it's doors last night and all the inventory is gone

Between the two London stores that has to be about 100-120 employees. Dale Downie just did a huge renovation about 3 years ago.
