Like everyone else has said Carl, keep your chin up and we are all hoping a new opportunity will present itself to you. Independent garage, another dealer, something will definitely come along.
Does anyone have a list of the GM dealers in Canada that are closing or are you guys just getting it through contacts and people you know in the business? It would be interesting to know the criteria as well. I suspect one factor is a certain number of vehicles sold per year.

Carl, sorry to hear about this. Are they trying to consolidate into fewer but larger dealers? As far as I know no dealers are affected in Newfoundland, but then again you tend to have only one or at most two GM dealers in each city or larger town.
There is a separate link Hillar under "Gm Canada Dealers Learn Fate Tomorrow". The only way I could get the comments up was to click on the printable version. TRY THIS LINK
I would be surprised if just about every Pontiac-Buick-GMC dealer isn't on the list. Pontiac would have been the high volume seller at each of those dealerships. The only place Buicks are selling is China. Can't survive just selling GMC or Cadillac. Bottom line is I think GM plans to convert all the GM stores that are left into "GM" stores that sell all 4 brands that are left. If their goal is to reduce duplication I still can't figure out why they are bothering to maintain GMC and Chev trucks when the only difference is the front grill and some trim.

Isn't it true that GMC is the divison that designs all trucks so they need that to make the trucks badged as Chevy and Cadillac, not to mention large commercial trucks they design and motor coaches, locomatives and military business that is operated under the GMC division. I think it is more than retail pick up trucks under consideration.

As far as I know, GM has already exited all of those businesses. When was the last time you saw a brand new GM bus or heavy commercial truck? I think the locomotive and military divisions were sold of years ago.

There was one Pontiac dealer that survived in London and that was LMP. Could be that the owner also owns two other stores.. I talked to a friend of mine who works there today. He said they were all pretty tense until they got word they were being spared.

Hillar I think they still produce heavy Commercial vehicles and isn't London Ontario the Locomotive plant? I can't say 100% on the rest, you may well be right.

Yes Ray. London is GM Locomotive. Ther has been a large layoff due to cancelled contracts.
