another cruise nite topic, Music

Well its hard to please everyone but Peggy Sue is a little worn out for me. Closing in on 53 but I sure wish they would move the tunes up a few years. What would others like to hear?

I've made my comments on cruise ins known before, I'm all for miving the music up a few decades. I don't mind if they mix it up week to week or whatever. Most cruise nights are stuck in the late 50's music, it fine but a lot of early 50's is classic too, 60's 70's etc...

I agree that disco sucks! No rock with sting though? Scorps, ac/dc, the who, sabbath, zepplin,no rock from the 80's either? I'm almost 40 so the heavy stuff I grew up with is classic rock now, so therefore should be played as well. No offence but as April Wine put out, HARDER, FASTER! :)

I love all music, even some disco(really only the funky bass lines) and rap is not music. I think they should do a mix just like DJ Dave put here. I dident see any Big Sugar or another of my favs the Black Keys though:) I would love to hear some good rockabilly like Stray Cats or Reverend Horton Heat, I find thats the stuff that most people can enjoy as you always find yourself tappin your feet to it.

Dave that's a great list, i like the diversity.
Like everyone else i agree no disco...as Johnny Fever said...disco is dead, thank god. Here's some of the artists i like. I won't mention the regular car show fare, like the 50's and 60's by all means....anyway here goes.
I like instrumentals by the Ventures, Booker T and the MG's.
Transfusion by Nervous Norvus
I'm a fan of late 60's and early 70's so Hendrix, Doors, Stones, Cream, Sabbath, Skynard, CCR, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Donovan...song like Hurdy Gurdy Man
Gotta throw in the 3 chord wonders, The Ramones.
I have always liked Def Leppard, and some 80's stuff, early U2...not stuff from around 2000 up. Rocker chics like Lita Ford, Pat Benatar and of course Joan Jett
Then being in high school early nineties...stuff from that era...no not rap...i mean grunge...Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog...not neccisarily car show music, even though i wouldn't mind hearing this stuff.
Also like Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Offspring, Filter, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Soul Asylum, Black Crowes, Collective Soul, Depeche Mode, Tragically Hip, Pursuit of Happiness, Northern Pikes
A couple of newer ones would be Queens of the Stoneage and Matt Mays/El Torpedo, and one i just heard from Beck, he just did a cover of Bob Dylan's Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat
I know a lot might not recognize the newer stuff but i think to get diversity in things need to get shaken up a bit.

For crusins, I'd stick to some lively pop. Its middle of the road and generally unoffence to anyone. Follow a theme, cars and summer songs and play songs that suited to the crowd.
Peggy Sue was 50 years ago, those would enjoyed the song way back when are not making to many car shows and crusin now adays.

My tastes lean toward mid 60's through mid 70's pop so here's a taste of what I might include;

Hanky Panky (Tommy James)
What Does It Take (Jr Walker)
Radar Love (Golden Earring)
Hot Rod Lincoln (Commander Cody)
Drivers Seat (Sniff n The Tears)
Hot Fun In The Summertime (Sly Stone)
Helen Wheels (Paul McCartney)
Life in The Fast Lane (Eagles)
Ramrod (Bruce Springsteen)
Draggin The Line (Tommy James)
Car Crazy Cuite (Beach Boys)
Custom Machine (Beach Boys)
Bucket T (Jan & Dean)
SS396 (Paul Revere)
Vehicle (Ides of March)
In The Summertime (Mungo Jerry)
Promised Land (Elvis)
Easy Come Easy Go (Bobby Sherman)
