Further to the subject of a 4 barrel carb. and aftermarket alum. intake for our '64 Custom Sport ragtop, might anybody have a Holley carb. either g/c or rebuildable? Carl in Clinton is trying very hard to get us his Weiand/Edelbr. combo from the guy that's storing it (thanks Carl!) but it's not that easy. Steve in Cobourg can get us his Edelbr. Z/28 replica right away but the bolt pattern is for a Holley. A couple of other great members have offered their Q-jets but if we can get Steve's Edelbr. we'd need a Holley. Maybe an 1810 or 3310 (pref. a 600-650cfm - it's a stock, worn 327 and I don't think it'll comfortably take a 700...). I am familiar with Holleys and can rebuild if nec..
Any help would be much appreciated as we're under the gun to get the car out of the shop it's in and it's not very driveable (I removed the Roch. 2 bbl. and rebuilt it but on re-installation two manifold studs snapped off (!!). Fixed one but one's screwed. So it sucks all kinds of air betw. man. & carb. and runs pretty rough. So instead of bearing the expense of fixing the old 2 barrel man. which we're going to swap anyway, we're going the 4 barrel route right away - but we need to get a man. and carb. that will work.
BTW, just got it back from Midas with a full custom dual exhaust system with Cherry Bombs and foot-long 3" dia. chrome extensions at the back. The muffler shop really woke up the neighbours when they fired it up!!!
Thanks guys, for any and all help on this - and thanks to those who have helped already (Carl, Steve, Brett etc.). We're new members and everyone's been awesome...!
I have a holley that I bought about 10 years ago. The claim was that it had 1 week on a Duster 340. I took it apart cleaned it tried to put it back together (1st carb attempt.) I then put it in a box and haven't looked at it since. If you want, I can send it too you. PM me if you're interested.
Rick
