Surprise, surprise

I just started disassembling my 69 and have found some surprises both good and bad. On the good side I have removed most of the interior and found that the floorboards are in very good condition. Another pleasant surprise is that the car already has new quarters on it. The doors look decent too so I'm thinking they may have been replaced too and the left fender was definately replaced. The biggest disappointment I have found so far is the roof panel. The roof had a fair size dent in the middle of it and when it was repair the dent was taken out but just filled. From looking at it from the inside the dent doesn't look all that bad. It looks like the centre brace has to be jacked up a little. that was a case of someone being to lazy to remove the headliner to repair it properly. I'll know more once the paint is removed but I'm hoping I can use my magic and repair the roof will little or no filler. If it's too bad then I guess I'll be ordering a new one. It also looks like I might need a new right fender. I noticed a crack in the filler on that fender as well but I'll know more one the paint is off. It might be something minor.
I never even paid any attention to the condition of the interior since it is all going to replaced anyway. The headliner and all the trim moldings are already on there way.

yours dent might be too much for this trick... my car had a vinyl roof on it still (installed in 72) and a few dents on the roof (probably from the previous owner accessing his attic storage)... i started taking the headliner out, when my dad called me and told me to try a using a rubber mallet and gently tap around the outside edge of the dent... i tried it, and it worked, a couple of shallow dents just popped right back up!! and i didnt have to take the headliner out, which is p.i.t.a. from what i've heard, so its reasonable to think the previous guy who worked on your car was probably better with bondo than interiors!

Yeah I'll do something like that. I'll probably have to jack up the centre brace abit while dollying the dent out. I'm a bodyman and painter by trade so I've had plenty of experience.
