Just a tip, when buying a GM car from a GM dealer new or optimum just ask them to print your "Build" and they will give it to you. I suppose you could write it into the deal but I have never had a problem just asking them. I got it on my Suburban and two Cadillacs. It has all the same info George provides and more. You can go one better and ask for service history too and you get a print of all service perfomed at a GM dealer anywhere. The only thing is it is on a plain paper print out that says GM build System or something like that accross the top with date and time printed and not letterhead, might be better actually.
Oh ya and another thing with the Build print out is it tells you why the car was ordered, my Suburban says dealer stock, Deville says for display purposes and Fleetwood says customer order #xxx. or somethings close, don't have them in front of me.
If you get a friendly service advisor you can also get a warranty history printout as well..
Thanks Todd, that's what I have for my Cadillacs. It is neat because you can get a good guage of the way a car was driven. When I bought my Deville they told me the owner was 72 years old. In the first 4 years the car was driven 110,000 km and in the last 4 years 40,000 km. Three months before I bought it it had an alternator and battery under warranty, must have been GM extended warranty.
