Shelby and Smith probably have shares in the company!?

Does anyone believe those Tom Bosley commercials where he says you'll make a fortune selling SMC merchandise to your friends?.

One of the guys in our car club told me that it increased his gas mileage by "HUNDREDS" of km per tank of gas. The stated price was $40.ish per tank. He also believes that 15" wheels (he has 14's now) will improve his mileage, acceleration and top speed.

Use diesel oil mixed with 5-30 check the containers some still have zinc in them. I my self just run 10-30 as I have plans to do my motor in the next year or so. But if you look on line they say to use diesel oil in older engines. Also the speed shop where I just picked up a cam for my wife car said break it in with diesel oil and once it is broke it to use a mix of diesel oil and 5-30. But make sure it has zinc in it I know Shell sells one

The Shell diesel oil is called Rotella and it is an excellent oil.  That is the big issue these days, the lack of lubricating zink in oil, not the wonder claims of another snake oil.evileye

The only product that I've seem a SLIGHT improvement with was Wynn'sFriction Proof. I had an 86 Mustang GT that I added a bottle to. It ran ok prior and I actually forgot about it. About 3-4 days later I noticed the car running much smoother and cooler as well. I had really forgotten about adding the stuff so it wasn't like I was looking for improvement- it just hit me one day driving to work how much smoother the car ran. I haven't added to any of my cars lately. Maybe I'll throw some in the Pontiac. Can't hurt since the motor is coming out soon anyway.

I add 1/2 bottle of EOS every oil change, still has some zinc in it. Buy it at GM parts counter, about $6 and change.

while were on the topic of snake oil,
what about seafoam,?
I've used it don't know what it does but before a oil change I do believe it will clean some junk out of the valves ect ect.

other things like 25 cents of diesel every couple of tanks( the same thing as the 5.00 fuel treatment in the stores( not for fuel injection )

ATF in the fuel, lubercates and swells old seals so they stop leaking.

Some of the locals swear by Rotella.  I use Shell Super Helix and the car runs like a dream! (No Racing!)

Todd,
Sounds a lot like STP in the good old days!  Problem was the gunk that acumulated in the sump and eventually blocked the oil pump with a blown engine as a result!
Took out 1" of gunk out of the sump!

Thanks guys for the replies!  I won't spend my $ on it   I change oil very often, and run good grade dyno oil in my old cars, and syn in newer.   My buddy with 4 speed 71 402 Monte used "Restore" and it stopped the car smoking.... has lasted over 10 years now  smile

Hi guys on your oil thing your right partially. i used to slolom in the mid eighties when i worked with a delership. We broke our engines in with diesil oil, then after about 2 to 3 thousand changed over to 10/30 sinthetic my engine has 450000 changed berings once but it still runs without a smoke show. the slolom engine regularly saw 7000 rpm through its whole life. Now to the important part i used the same formula on my 327. my milage increased and that 350hp engine has been in four cars an run very hard. 200000 when i added up all the log books. the newest engines are getting the same treatment just make sure you have good seals.

I've used ZMax in 2 of my vehicles & was impressed. 1st used it in 64 last summer going to West Virginia, noticed a difference after about 10 to 15 min. of driving, engine "seemed " smoother, quieter,& less pressure on the "ol loud pedal" My friend had it in his 69 Cutlass on same trip, after we got there he said to me, " I think were one stop less, for gas than last yr." & he was right!!! Put it in my 01 Chevy 1/2 ton with Vortec 4.8 V 8 , the cold start piston slap has been reduced greatly!!!  So IMO this stuff does do what they claim, it's expensive at 38 bucks for oil & gas kit, but they say the gas treatment lasts for 6000mi

I use Shell Rotella 5/40 in my 283. A friend of mine,a trucker says it's the best. Why do you think the big rigs can put so many miles on their engines?

Chris, I was using Shell Rotella in the Poncho, but they took the zinc out of it, so I would check label to make sure, I started using Lucas  zinc suppliment along with the Z-Max in older engine where you need the ZINC
