Fantino's Rangers are busy rounding up one car after another. I saw the hook get three more on the 401 near Port Hope this afternoon. The Wesleyville Exit is a regular eastbound speed-trap. One guy was busy emptying everything out of his trunk, including a giant cooler, before his car went poof.
Remember, if you're blasting down the highway, 50 clicks over gets the hook. And, for those of us driving our classics with MPH speedos, 90MPH gets the hook on the 401.

A bike blew by me on a concession road near our cottage , not posted so 80 kph, next I look in my mirror and I see this brown car coming like H too, Whooosh he blows by me too, but it's a Crown Vic, unmarked. About 15 minutes later I come across them, bike on the hook, first time I saw that.
50 kph over and they suspend your license on the spot for seven days and impound your car for seven days plus write you a ticket for minimum $2,000. There is also a provison to have the car crushed if the vehicle is suspected of being built for street racing before it even puts rubber to pavement on city streets.
On the balance of probabilities if it can established that a car is being used for the unlawful purpose of street racing, it will be seized and it will never be seen again. Authorities will crush the car and crush the parts.

Wow that sucks. What do they do if people deal drugs from their car..........Nothing I bet. Sounds like your guilty and you have no rights if you have a muscle car in ONT.
They have most of those rules here too but it depends on the crime. I blew by a cop in my Forerunner at about 160kmh over 15 years ago and it was a 300.00 ticket with 6 points worth 700.00, but he could of suspended my licience for excessive speed but he let me go. Now if you were racing and wipe out some people, kiss your ass goodbye.

The laws were made in reaction to Tuner Cars and that's who the police really target, although one OPP officer in an unmarked car was stopped, they impounded the police car if you can believe it. There was also the case of a municipal garbage truck driver and they impounded the garbage truck too. Sort of illustartes the insanity of it all doesn't it? I think the fastest recorded ticket is some guy doing 250 kph in a Q35. Generally the police leave us old guys in 60's and 70's muscle cars alone.
As much as I appreciate the original reasoning for the law, and the craziness of the guys on bikes doing 250 kph plus, this seems like an extreme reaction. I guess the question is: does it work? Are people slowing down?
Another questiion: what are they doing abut the bad drivers who may be going slower, but still are creating hazards everywhere they go?
As much thought went into that as the new 105 limiter law for trucks that starts next week.Be prepared to get stuck behind the Elephant Races. And IF it was all about Safety, why are Buses EXCEMPT! Isn't that cargo Priceless??
It's a $ grab. Posturing by politians. If you are racing, throw the book at em' but on a nice day, no one on the road, just a ticket. thats how it should be.
It's for any Truck Running in Quebec or Ontario! We've been resetting speeds for a couple of months now. I thought that was the OPPz job. They must All be busy in Caledonia.

This exactly sums up how I feel...and put a whole lot better than I could've said it too!.

Bingo! You guys should drive on #8 highway from Kitchener to Goderich, and #4 from London to Goderich(the worst) It is unbelievable, to get in a line of 9-13 cars, all travelling 79.9km, and 8-12 cars can't get by 1st car!! All travelimg bumper to bumper for miles!! If you flew overhead, they will be NO traffic for a mile ahead of them and a mile behind them.. After you travel 12 miles at 81 km you end up in Goderich, or Stratford, or Exeter behind a old lady driving with "total black out" sunglasses and a "plastic rain hat" She/he haven't looked in mirrors for 25 years... All the econo-puddle jumpers in the lines don't have enough power to pass 1 car let alone 2-3... When I got here 42 years ago, the speed limit was 60 and everyone drove 70... today the OPP set their radar at 105 I guess we have too many older drivers who drive 5-6 000km a year and try to be safe and drive 79.9 km, They cause accidents behind them, and go home and never know what they caused

Sometimes when I take the scenic route to work in London via Hamilton road I get behind a school teacher driving an Olds Achieva (remember those puke cars?). The car is mint and the driver does 72 in an 80. It's times like this I love my supercharger baby!
I used to drive those roads in Huron/Perth and know what you mean, but at least there are some spots to make a pass. Now Hwy 3, between St. Thomas and Simcoe...whoa!!! Absolutely horrible!!! Not only do you get slow pokes but it's pretty much all solid yellow line. It's awful, awful, awful!!! I go to and from work in Tillsonburg back ways as much as possible!
