Came across this collison on Saturday afternoon in Barrie on Bayfield street heading north out of town. I saw the '69 300 come out of one of the malls and then he got ahead of me, unfortunately not for long.
Carl, it was Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm bumper to bumper traffic as is usually the case on Bayfield heading up to Wasaga or one or the other beaches on Georgian Bay.
I think the Tarus had to stop quickly, the Chevlle probably hammered on the brakes and pitched sideways and the tuner just came in too hot. The real cause of the accident probably turned left in front of the Tarus and got some groceries at the Sobeys.
Sad part is this was almost in the same place where the two Barrie Police Officiers were stabbed yesterday and the suspect gunned down.
Definitely repairable, but it looked pretty fresh. Gas tank was punctured, hood, right front fender and headlight bezels and grille, front bumper all damaged. I don't think the rear too too much since the tuner went right under. Opened up that tuner car like a pop can, the Ford faired ok too.
When I saw it was a post car I knew I had to stop and get out and get picture or two. I was wondering if anyone knew the car.
I believe that car was previously from Welland-A friend "Phil" built it in the late 1980's it was stoved hard in the left side in 1990 then repaired (same situation!) then he sold it to Carl who moved to Ridgeway-it sat for years while he took a job in Orillia-I heard the car was now redone again and home with him-what are the odds
Of course we have no idea what happened. It looks bad for tuner boy but there is a good chance 69 Chevelle did something stupid too, I mean his car is sideways. Then there is that Ford that is stopped half way in the intersection telling me something bad happened in the intersection too. Never clear cut, but one thing I'll say for 100% sure is I'd never take my old car out on Bayfield Street on a Saturday afternoon in July, too many cars, too many day trippers, too many fast food restuarants with too many left hand turns, too much risk.
I'm not saying 100 % it is it, but think about it-how many blue 69 chevelle two door post cars with centerline style wheels and quarter glass decals could there be in the Barrie area ?
