Rechrome vs aftermarket bumpers

I've been pricing out getting my bumpers rechromed and found out it will cost around $300 for each bumper. I actually have 2 front and 2 rear bumpers which I was thinking of getting done. I also looked into purchasing aftermarket bumpers and I found I can actually get new ones for around $250. I'm wondering how I can get a replacement bumper for less money then rechroming mine. Is the aftermarket of lesser quality. What do you guys think is the best route to go?

I would go with re-chroming the originals. Nothing fits as well, or is built quite like them.

you can get replacements for less because of the $1. a day labour cost.

like barry said, get your originals rechromed, nothing fits like original parts.

That's the way I was leaning. I already know that the bumpers fit nicely on the car. Who knows what aftermarket may fit like. Thanks for the input.

Robin e-mailed me tonight, they wnated $450 to do a set of valve covers! Tha's how bad us poor saps out east have it...

I put new front and rear bumpers on a couple of years ago and was very happy with the quality. The chrome looks great and they fit good.
I didnt have much of a choice tho...a peter-built truck rubbed into my quarter panel and bent my rear bumper and the front was really ruff and not worth saving.

They don't make 66 Beaumont aftermarket bumpers-they make 66 Chevelle repos, but Beaumonts are quite different because of the back-up light holes and the front bumper has a small hole cut for the hood release handle to pull through
