So, I am afraid this is going to be a rant, but

I happened to tune in to NASCAR racing on SpeedTV (normally I do not watch circle track racing, as an ex-road racer and future drag racer, I find it supremely boring, yeah I know it has close competition blah blah, but that is not my point, so back to our regularly scheduled posting) and all of a sudden I saw a car in the pits, with dozens (OK that may be a slight exaggeration, but not by much, because there were a LOT of them) of earnest feverishly working dedicated young guys, wrenching away, and what the hell do I see??!! Great big stupid looking white ducks on the back of their matching work shirts!

I am stunned.

F***ing fruity-looking big (must have been at least 3 feet high - OK, I forget, Canada had gone metric and abandoned her rightful heritage, hey not for me to question, that's the state of the world and I cannot change it, so - must have been at least one meter high) silly-ass white ducks on the back of their shirts!

I swear some of the young guys, when they saw that the camera had gotten a clear shot of (1) the back of their shirt, immediately followed by (2) their face, were hang-dog ashamed.

At first I thought "This must be some freak team owner, who has a duck fetish, and requires his poor team to wear that" but then I saw the front of the shirts, and lo and behold, the same f***ing duck was there too, but a little smaller (maybe 2 feet high - no, wait, .6 meter high) and emblazoned thereon was also: AFLAC

So then I knew.

For whatever perverted reason, one of those lying thieving conniving politician-buying customer-cheating in****nce companies had bought themselves a bunch of real live billboards, paid for with somebody's (maybe you?) insurance premiums, to further stick that m****r f***ing obnoxious symbol (whenever I see their f***ing commercials on TV I immediately change channels) IN FRONT OF MY FACE!

The only thing worse would be if that (parental warning: multiple obscenities that would cause even the most hardened sailor to blanch are omitted here) geico gecko were on a race car ....

Wait ....

They have been advertising about selling insurance to bikers and off-roaders and...

OK I do not want to think about race teams with that f***ing gecko in 3 foot (sorry, 1 meter) high graphics on their shirts ...

So anyway, my whole point (yes there is a point to this rant) is:

What the hell has happened to our life, that f***ing insurance companies (lying thieving conniving politician-buying customer-cheating a**holes that they are), none the less ALL of those f***ing Nike (they may be even worse than geico) and other global-enterprise-your-stocks-and-IRAs-are-worth-nothing-now-but-we-still-have-our-golden-prachutes m****r f****rs have TAKEN OVER OUR SPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, who give a **** about football (either the real American version or the weenie European version) or golf or tennis or ping pong, lets face it, we all know that racing is expensive and we need a little help, but to SELL OUR SOULS AND HAVE A F***ING DUCK PLASTERED ALL OVER OURSELVES?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, what do you think? Has it gone too far? And if so, what can we do about it?

Or am I just a lonely a**hole farting in the wind?

Dave

alot of us up here are still old school, standard measurement guys. 3ft=1 meter is one of the few #&%$@#!# metric measurements i can remember. thanks %$#@#$@% liberals.

that look on their faces mighta been because of the brand they were working on. ashamed

daytona race was kinda boring till the last 2 laps. nice to see kyle busch having to walk back to the pits after the race ended. aww

Dave,Dave,Dave, is this the 1st time you noticed how flaky NASCAR has become? I agree the insurance duck is a f*&^%in* disgrace, but this is a usual insult to your intelligence brought on by NASCAR. When Junior Johnson left that was the end of line for me. If moonshine whiskey can't be an official sponsor then the heck with 'em

I haven't sat through a race since about 1998. I clearly remember being 9 or 10 years old watching NASCAR on CBS in the late 70's. Remember Chris Ekonomaki and Ned Jarrett? That was exciting racing. I missed the true golden area- the 50's, and 60's. I have some of those races on DVD. Daytona on the beach was awesome!

I like 60's and 70's stock car racing.(Weren't they called "grand national" cars then?)

I'm a drag racing fan, so it kills me that NHRA is chasing the " nascar model" so bad.
Screw, the dollars and TV time. TV fans aren't who you serve.

Dave
I think your rant was a little tame.
We lost Indy in Vancouver to a bunch of ass kissing MOFO'S who don;t want events with beer and tabacco ads..and scumsucking lowlifes that don't like noise.
There I feel better now

They can't any more. Could you imagine 6 cyl front wheel drive cars putting around Daytona? Shoot, they'd fall off!

omfg.gif No wonder those idiots went bankrupt, their brains have gone haywire all around!

I suppose next we will see a NASCAR chevrolet sponsored by whatever company has a gerbil as its mascot.

I am going to go drink heavily and try not to think about this.

Dave
