RE: So, I am afraid this is going to be a rant, but

I don't are how crappy the production cars handle on the track. What is missing is seeing a car you can relate to on the track that is not a kit car. Race them stock!! I should be GM management because they don't have a clue.

Thanks, I am finally getting sort of close to getting it out on the road, and I am pretty happy with how the stance is coming out. Wasn't easy stuffing those fat boys under the rear without fender cutting (even though I love the Two Lane Blacktop look, I could not bear to cut into the Pontiac fender lip) or moving springs or whell well tubbing, but they do clear and should work fine with 4.11 Posi smile.gif

You can narrow the rear end to keep the original stance. That's my take too!

Yep, that was an option too, and a good one, but for me it fell into the same category as moving springs or whell well tubbing, more mods than I plan on doing and costs more too (I am a cheapskate and this is supposed to be a lo-buck car).

If I blow up the original rear end with the 496, I'll go with a 9" Ford and then carefully mesure to get it the perfect width, and step up to 10" wheels with 12" tires in the back (currently 7" wheels and 10" tires).

Thanks,
Dave

That's pretty much my reaction too, Mike. Right now our regular vehicles are Mopar and FoMoCo products, my 02 Dodge Dakota truck and my wife's 07 Ford Mustang convertible, and although I still love the old iron like my 56 and a lot of the other cars the guys here have, I console myself with the fact that (1) if I buy another old GM product like a 50's Canadian Ponticac, it was made way before this current stupidity (there weren't even terms like politically correct or <sorry, please try not to puke> gay pride), (2) the money goes to some other guy not to GM, and (3) since GM long ago abandoned the old car parts business, every single part I buy is new aftermarket production or NOS from some guy's storage, so again, none of my dollars goes to GM.

For example, with the exception of the rebuilt block (mine is a 1978 high perf pass block), not one single part in my 496 is a GM part - crank, rods, pistons, heads, valves, cam, lifters, oil pump, oil pan, intake, carb, water pump, starter, distributor, every single part, even the fasteners, are new aftermarket production. So none of my money to GM, those corporate bumblers.

Whooo, you make a good point Dave. I guess I will never buy a "new" G.M vehicle again.  It's not the older stuff  as you pointed out that is giving me an ulcer. Man this sucks! I will have to teach my kids to drive a ford in the future. Sorry dad.( R.I.P) this would have killed him. He's the reason I got into chevs and such in the first place. Sigh, nothing is sacred anymore. Maybe we should have a straight pride parade? Naw never get a permit.bleh

She is clearly a good thinker, and I hope she finds some guy she can be happy with and have kids and raise them right (something no gay person can do). Any guy would be blessed with a partner like her. (And although she is obviously beautiful, it is her brains that make for a long-term relationship, IMHO.)

I hope she told California to go stick that title up their narrow-minded a**es.

There is no free speach in this country. Have you not heard of the anti hate coalition? If you say something that a "minority" deems hurtful, you will be convicted of whatever the allegations that have been brought against you without a trial, then it's up to you to try and defend yourself after the fact. Political correctness strikes again. I have no problem with gay pride, as long as they don't censor my right to disagree with them! And that my friends, is not possible anymore.

Given the fact that the video has been removed from You Tube has it not occurred to anyone that the video and story was most likely a misrepresentation and there fore not a GM promo.  confuse
