Those 406 4sp Fords will pull tree stumps out.......Unbelievable torgue .......more brute pulling power than the Ford 427's but the 427's get all the hype!

And its running a 428 with a toploader........(drooooooool). The distributor is an old Mallory dual point.

I would almost sell my 57' Laurentian 2dr hardtop for that (nobody make me an offer right now!).

The good thing about a Ford is the engine/trans/axle will be on the plate mounted side of the drivers door. Plus the engine code is the 5th digit of the serial number. No waiting for paperwork...

Years ago I had a 69 Cyclone SCJ 428 that had been built by a well known Ford race guy, Don Henderson. He put a 3x2 bbl intake from a 62 406 on the drag racing built 428. It was a scary fast car. Great in a straight line, when you got it hooked up which was seldom. It fried the stock size bias ply Goodyears off in an afternoon and had a wicked tendency to go sideways when it shifted even at half throttle. It was way over-built for street use, but it was fun!

I have some more pics of the car from the owner. Its full of bondo, will need at least a partial drivers front floor pan, and the body is pretty beat up all around. But it is definately repairable.

I wonder if he wants a 55' chevy 2 dr wagon project and cash?

I've seen worse. I think the car would be worth spending the $$ on a resto. Southern fenders, doors, trunklid would be needed etc etc but think of what you'd have when you are done!
