Photo posting TEST thread

Let's see how this turns out for various members. I'll post the addresses of several of Todd's photos. I'm using a [ img] in front followed by a [ /img] behind.

Copy the addresses and post in this thread to see the results. Be sure to remove any spaces.....I had to use a space after the [ character or you wouldn't see the img code.

And, here's the result with the spaces removed....

OK, this shows that I can copy pictures from someone else's thread.  That has never  been a problem, although when I try to preview the post, I don't actually see the photo, just the URL address.

My problem is uploading them from the camera/computer.  Do they have to be of a certain size pixel wise in order to be displayed a certain size in the thread?  Mine never show up the same size as in Todd's Stratford thread?  Also, how can you insure they display in a column instead of across the page?  What settings do you have to use?

Oh, and I did not have to use a space after the [ character.

I usually resize mine to a maximum 700 or 800 pixels wide.

Right-click on Todd's photos and you'll see that they're 800 pixels wide x 600 tall.

You guys are doing it the hard way. First of all you can't do it easily in the "Quick reply" window. You have to use the regular "reply" button or convert to "Advanced Editor".

On the top of the window you type your message in you'll see a menu with "Font Size" etc. and a bunch of symbols. First you copy the URL of your photo (from the "direct link" window on Photobucket for example). Once you have your cursor where you want your photo, select the little "Tree" symbol (it's the 5th from the right on the bottom row).

A window will pop up with the cursor in the "Image URL" window. Simply right click your mouse and select "Paste". There are other options in this window (resize etc). Once you are happy with your selection (I rarely resize) select the "Insert Image" button and you're golden. Your photo will be seen in the text window. Forget about manually typing [img] etc!

Good idea. We need to arrange a get together before the weather turns cold.
