No substitute for the original.  I love the 60's NHRA Stock and Super Stock cars.
There was a 63 Big Pontiac Wagon for sale recently in this area and I thought how cool would it be to clone an NHRA stocker with that car.
The 61 shows H/SA on the windshield which is a higher class than I would have guessed for that car.  I remember several Chevy wagons in our area that ran Stock with 283 & 327's that were like M & N/SA.

Oh man that thread is great, I remember most of the guys mentioned on the 1st page because it happened right here in my backyard.  The one guy posting is Frank from Bay City, MI I have known of him since the 60's, he was always the man for bending tube as they say.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get past the first page, the link to the following pages doesn't work.  I will try it again tomorrow.
Notice that 62 Big Chevy wagon with the 409 and a 4 spd.  Back then there were some guys that really knew how to shift.  Today, they need an air shifter coupled to an automatic to run a race.
